Sujet: Why doesn't the Sync button work anymore?

Ce topic est ancien et peut contenir des informations obselètes ou incorrectes.

I have a number of issues with VDJ 6 that are really disappointing. Some things that worked fine before don't work now!!! I also have questions about mapping that nobody seems to know the answers to. I'll give this one more try, though...

Why doesn't the Sync button work anymore. If I press Sync, shouldn't the track's pitch/tempo change to be the same as the other track, like it used to do? It's always a couple 100ths off on the BPM. This worked fine before. Why was this changed? And is there a way to fix it? Also, while we're on the topic... why do the beat transient markers not always line up correctly on the first beat? At what point in the track does VDJ figure out the BPM and set it's transients? When two songs are playing and the transients are off on one of the tracks and you press sync, the track slides over to match up the transients on both tracks and now the mix is way off. This program has seemed to have gotten worse with this update.

Secondly, the mapping system is wrong. You can't say that you offer support for a controller and then have it be completely incorrect. I had a friends X-Session Pro hooked up last night to VDJ and the auto mappings were way off. I'll explain what I mean by "way off". Deck 1 eq high knob was controlling VDJ eq low. mid knob controlled high eq. Deck 2 eq knobs controlled nothing at all. The buttons didn't function at all, when they worked perfectly fine with Torq so it wasn't the hardware. We tried to use auto-learn and VDJ recognized all of the knobs and sliders but none of the buttons. It was too much of a PITA to remap using VDJ so we edited the XML file instead. VDJ use to make mapping hardware easy and it's not anymore.

Lastly, how do I midi-map a range for a knob. I do not want the eq settings to go past 0, when I turn a knob all the way clockwise. I want the range to be "-inf" to "0", nothing more! What is the command for the VDJ script for that?

It hasn't changed to my knowledge. The default skins on earlier versions only showed the BPM to one decimal place, 128.1 bpm for example. When you pressed sync, they were synced but not exactly - you just couldn't see it. A later version introduced BPM up to 3 decimal places, and if you used a skin that supported it you could see the differences. The default skin in VDJ6 was updated to use 2 decimal places.

The problem occurs because of the pitch range. The larger your pitch range, the larger the jumps between each individual pitch position. Because both tracks aren't identical BPMs to begin with, it can only sync to the closest step.

For more accuracy, reduce your pitch range. The problem has always been there, just previous versions didn't show it by default ;)

It's still easy; and you can create a definition file now that will recognise every MIDI control on the device. Auto-learn for listed devices will only allow you to use the controls in the definition file.

I think this is do-able, I will test for you when I get a chance.

It took me a little while to figure this out, but I knew I had to, as it can get a little frustrating the gain controls going up to far whilst mixing!!

If you go to the CONFIG > MAPPERS section and for each eq_low, eq_mid & eq_high actions, insert "param_multiply 0.5 & " before each! This should solve this little problem you're having!!

This topic is over a year old... ;)
