Hi guys i am enjoying the world of music video mixing and so is my crowd but i just have a quick question.

I have been using xvid videos which i have been downloading but i just want to know of any good websites that do music video dvds or music video downloads. I have searched the internet but cant realy find anything.

Where do all you guys get your promo vids and vids from.

Promo Only subscription. Best way to go. "Express Video" gives you new videos every week and "Hot Video" gives them to you every month and now you can get them in file formats instead of DVD's.

As DJ Rude says Promo Only is great, depending on where in the world you are. they do not ship to Australia :(

Also you could have a look at Smashvidz.com they offer extended mix videos but are a little limited on content.

good luck

www.8thwonderpromos.com $10 a month all the videos and music you need!

+1 good vids all MP4 and different variations....

$270 annual payment for a DVD every month with most usable formats. If you have time to grow into VJing, this is the way to build your collection and your VJ business without spending a ton of cash.

When you get to the point you need more videos faster, then step up to the Promo Only services. My 2 cents.

I just joined 8th wonder record pool. The Price is very affordable and you are getting everything. Why go elsewhere... 10 bucks a month...
Hip Hop, Reggae, Dance, Main stream, R & B, Mashups, Pop, Videos in original, mashup and instrumental too. DJ Drops, classics.. everything..

8th wonder is ideal for bedroom DJ's, it's cheap and a complete rip off of promo only (they have/probably still do use it as their source material), I don't believe that they get their content from the labels with this being the case.

Finally I've found that the average video is just too low in quality to play out.

For downloads stick with Smashvidz, Crooklyn and Strictly - where the average video looks spot on, and are usually mixed/edited to a greater standard.

Hi Guys,

I can not play files downloaded from 8th wonder. Not with VDJ nor with media player. Any idea why ?

Anyone familiar with this prob. ?

Don't know if they still do but 8th wonder used to use non standard codec called 3vdx...... contact their tech support and see if this is still the case.

8th Wonder uses AVC1 (codec) which is (supported by ffdshow available for download at a location near you. (Google It)

8th wonder uses many DJ/remixer/contributors so they have no ONE standard source for ANYTHING posted. And yes... they STILL use Promo Only videos for their remixes, etc. what a joke.

Quality is bad on most, lip sync's are off, etc...

quality and selection with NO questions on content working or not... go with SmashVidz, Crooklyn Clan, Strickly Hits or YourRemix.com.

or...

just subscribe to ScreenPlay or Promo Only and rip your videos, encode them and you are all set.

8th wonder have standardised their video producers some time ago to mp4 at least 4000 (but often 8000 dvd quality), with 48000, 256 on the audio or better. All of the videos on the site are standard mp4 format. I'll grant I've seen one or two with dodgy audio sync but its a very small percentage (like one in a few hundred) - I would suggest if you have more that perhaps your mp4s are not syncing properly in your pc for some reason.

Theres also many remixes and break versions on there, and just like in the audio world, some are a bit crap, but thats your decision if you want to play them - your crowd might be into the remix thing. There are probably 20+ new videos per week being added at the moment so not all will be for everyone.

For the guy with the playback problems, see if you can play any mp4 files. If you can, you're download has probably cutoff before you got the whole thing?

Anyone outside or US and UK cant use promo only so its a great alternative, and for $10 per month you get instant access to everything.

I'm not convinced their source is promo only as they have complete videos with only a short title at the begining (now also standardised it seems), whereas the po videos I have seen are loaded with shadow logos all the way through at various points.

I like Promo Only the best as I mentioned early in this thread but I have heard some good things about TopHits though I'm not sure if it is available in Europe.

For Europeans try CD Pool (cdpool.com). This is a cool company similar to Promo Only. I have an old army buddy still in Germany and he sends me some of the CD Pool releases that I can't get here. Real nice remixes and other stuff hard to get here in the states. I'm not sure about videos but I still thought it was worth mentioning.

“If you pay peanuts you get monkeys” or “If you pay monkeys you get peanuts” - I think this is true for 8th.

Someone mentions their output level; and yes VJ’s starting up will be tempted by the number on offer, but who wants a library of low quality videos/remixes? I’d rather have 500 videos that get a good reaction than 10,000 that don’t, making the few goodies on offer obstructed by volumes of files just taking up space; ultimately you’ve just downloaded them so you feel you have enough to fulfil gigs.

On the subject of audio/video encoding, bite rates mean nothing in the context of remixes, the best bite rate can not create a file exceeding the quality of the source. Look at the quality of the videos on smashvidz at the side of 8thwonder videos and you’ll know what I’m talking about, is it not worth an extra $37 per month for a professional standard? Of course it is.

ok so, from what i take. there are a few to go with and 1 with low to poor quality, but my mix usually contains rnb and gospel/ christian... does anyone who actually register to these sites know where i can get a large qty of the gospel /christian segment so i can register without guessing on the best to go? hip hop and house i know i will find on them!!

PromoOnly releases christian tracks on their montly Country Video releases. According to them there isn't enough demand/videos for the christian videos to have a DVD devoted only to christian music.

http://www.promoonly.com/view_format.php?IssueTitleID=4

If your only wanting gospel/rnb/christian you may have to subscribe to both Country and Urban Videos. But, even then your going to be limited on gospel and rnb. As the urban video tends to be heavy with HipHop videos and the Country Video's christian music releases are going to vary and may only offer a couple of gospel releases.

thanks ill look into that...i wanna get into videos...
