Sujet: Timecode Newbie

Ce topic est ancien et peut contenir des informations obselètes ou incorrectes.

Mods sorry if this turns out to be a repost.

My setup:
desktop xp2
hercules rmx
tascam external usb soundcard
2 stanton c324(recently purchased still waiting on arrival)

Questions:
1. Do I have everything needed to run the 2 stantons w/vdj using timecode?
2. If yes to question 1, can I use the stantons connected directly to the Rmx or is an external mixer needed?
3. If I decide to use the c324's with the external mixer what would be the physical config? (ie wiring inputs/outputs)
4. Will vdj automatically know the difference between the two cdj's?

Thanks in advance and once again sorry if this/these questions were asked already I searched the forum and didnt find any specific answers.

One more thing, Im still using the trial version of vdj that came with the rmx and cant find the cd that came with it. I would like to set it up on a laptop if possible. Do I need to go back to the vendor I bought the rmx from to get the drivers or can I find them online?

You don't need the Tascam soundcard. The RMX has a built in ASIO soundcard (which I guess you know)

If you want to use your RMX as a soundcard and mixer just connect your TT's or CDJ's to the Inputs 1&2, 3&4 on the back of the RMX. Then Outputs 1&2 go out to your amp or PA system.

Sound setup in VirtualDJ should look like this

Inputs, X2 timecodes
Outputs, Headphones.
Soundcard, ASIO Driver

If you want to use your RMX just as a soundcard and use a external mixer, then just follow the above, but Output 1&2 go to channel 1 of the mixer, Output 3&4 go to channel 2 of the mixer. This will allow you then to crossfade between the channels on the mixer.

Sound setup in VirtualDJ should look like this

Inputs, X2 timecodes
Outputs, External Mixer
Soundcard, ASIO Driver

You don't really need a external mixer with the RMX, the RMX will do a good enough job for you.

Thanks a bunch.
