Sujet: is iomega 1tb hdd a good hdd?

Ce topic est ancien et peut contenir des informations obselètes ou incorrectes.

hi guys i just ordered one of these hdds and im hoping its a good hdd since my seagate 1.5tb went down the drain in less than 4 month...anyways i read about the iomega giving up after a 15 foot drop onto concrete...i would probably give up to after a drop like that lol anyways this is compared to a others that die after a 5-7 foot drop on industrial carpete..i hope this is correct since i ordered one...i dont plan to drop it to find out lol but a little peace of mind will help after seagate gave up with a little tap i gave it.

Every hard disk is ok until it fails... My advice is to keep another copy of all you have in that External iOmega HD. Maybe use another hard disk to do the backup, cause any hardware could fail, and the risk to lost all you got there is to expensive in time and money to keep it with out a backup.

Good Luck!

and make sure it has its own power supply. Bus powered one's will defintly cause you problems if you do video

Always use keep a backup drive, the cost of recovery is far greater then spending a couple of 100 on a backup drive.

yeah...i already learned the hard way about backing up the already backed up stuff....my seagate 1.5tb died on me with all my backed up music and videos...im still getting replaced since it died only 4 month after i bought it....but i wont trust seagate to just have one back up thats why im getting the iomega ego 1tb...and yes it has its own power its not a portable hard drive...its just external...i guess every hard drive lasts depending on the treatment you give it because i did bang my seagate just enough to make the disk stop spinning...i will be more careful this time...thanx guys.

lolololololololololol

just bought one of those, and here is my story.

They come with a saddle so they stand vertically, well after about 20-30 GB have transfered it stopped transferring, this is right out of the box, but if I lie it down flat it works very well, im on my way to return it and buy a seagate....

These have seagate drives in them! guys and girls here in the Uk Tesco have them on offer! for £69. I'm goin to buy one Tomorro before they run out.

There is a firmware update available on the seagate Website or do a google search on Seagate Firmware update hope that helps.

I've had one of these running in the house for over a year. It's taken a tumble but still goin but it's only a 320gb HDD! I like it no issues and i will be getting another one to back up to. Hope this helps

Cheers Bigc

is it the iomega ego? because the one im getting is the ego and it doesnt say anything about a stand everywhere i see it seems to be flat on the table.

oh ok i see no thats not the one im getting....im getting the ego...which probably doesnt matter if its a iomega its still the same company....well wish me luck on mines...and for the seagate that died on me, i tried everything to get it working but no success i tried a repair software for it...but nothing the drive just wont spin...so while the drive doesnt spin it will be impossible for it to work with any firmware/software...i read about rapidly shaking the drive...like throwing a frisbee....and that might make the drive start spinning again...it worked for some people but i had no luck. y the way how do you post pics here?

ok...guys just received iomega hdd right now...its a plug n play...it has no software built in the drive seems totally clean all it installs is the drivers...it has a power button...im transfering all my music on it now...i want to see if this drive goes to sleep too, since it has no software and it has a power button.
