You'll get alot of input from everyone based on their personal experience. I have experience with the DJ I/O. Although I don't currently use it (I dropped it and it broke) I would recommend it.

what do you have to do with that sound card?
Timecoding or only outputs?

I don't know why VDJ don't make a bundle like Numark did, and a seperate bundle that doesn't inc the software for those that already have it.

I use the Native Instruments Audio4DJ. It works like a charm for me. I use timecodes with it, but occasionally, I use it without, and have never had any problems with it.

IMHO if your planing on using VDJ I would get the RMX for these reasons;
1) Its a controller and will work upon plug and play!! plus the features of the 6+ effect buttons come in handy.
2) Its a sound card!! Ok ANYONE and I do mean ANYONE that is into the DJ VJ or KJ will eventualy move twards getting Decks... Wether its CDJ or Turn Tables or Duel's you will move in this direction if you stay in the game long enough. AND with the RMX you have the expandability already without having to go buy extral hardwear.
3) Its also a mixer!! Yes its a sound card mixer and look good too! ready to use buy itself or use Time Code!!
4) best Bang for your Bucks!!!....even comes with VDJ LE and if you want to upgrade to pro there is a big discount for RMX user's!! Which BTW is why I am a pro user!!!
Now if you still want the feel of a mixer you can even use that also!! yes its versital and great for the money
Now a cheper alternitive would be the Maya 44 good for external mixers and also hooking up Time Code. The only issue with the Maya is that it not that powerfull in pushing out sound!! but great for starters and for a little over 100bux can't go wrong!!!

To give you a proper answer... what is gonna be connected to the soundcard ? A controller, Cd player, Turntables ?... You cant give an answer if you dont have all the details..

I second the FTP for good sound quality, low latency, and expandability. I also recommend the DJio for it's price, durability, but if you think you may want to expand to include TC's get the FTP....My 2 cents.
PS The FTP is sold as Best Buy in the states, and there are always like 10% or 15% coupons available for BB.

As you can see from the various user answer here, it is a matter what the person has experience with, I use the M-Audio and started with Indigo DJ sound card. And "IMO" have not had a problem with either one of them, so the list could go on :) My friends use Maya44, or Serato, Mixvibes, etc.,. Best way is to Google, or Youtube the hardware and read/see the reviews. By all means though, do not go pick a sound card because DJ so and so uses it.(just Like software) Good Luck on your purchase :) And again, everyone will have their own opinion.
Oh one more thing, IMO again, mixers with built in sound cards, if that goes, you are pretty SOL? IMO again :)
