just a thought why doesnt virtual dj sell dj ready laptops with virtual dj installed and all the setups pre done with no other software but virtual dj
maybe even with a controller too..for lets say less than $2000.00 us dollars that would be awsome a hassle free setup right out of the box....will be jst perfect for all the people that wine lol...i know pcdj tried that once but they wanted to sell a laptop for like $3000.00 crazy!!!

Nice idea. I am spec picky. It would have to be maxed out. Not unless there are 2 version sort of like PS3.

It would be a great idea. But only for the most basic setups.
VDJ is so flexible I think you would run into problems with "I want it to do this but they want it to do that".
From a company point of view the financial viability, I think , would depend on how fast the machine went out of date. You don't want to put a whole load of R&D time into something which is out of date before you even have it for sale on the shelf. As we all know computer equipment gets old faster than any other consumer product out there.
Just a few thoughts!

because what you might think is a gem i might think is a paper weight. also laptops come out daily and get outdated daily. good thought but not well thought out.
my laptop worked great with cue right "out the box"

but see it as a dj equipment not as a daily "do it all laptop" its only for djing so any computer that exceeds the requirements of right nows version of virtual dj can easily last you a good 3-4 years without being outdated, practically any new computer wold do that now...if the specs and settings are set with no internet conection or software other than virtual dj i see minimum if not any problems...i have said it before and i will say it again most of the problems we have with virtual dj and any software for that matter...its always a hardware setting or update problem, iis not the software.

commercially unviable would be my first thought.

I think you make some very good points. What I have seen is a touchscreen rugidised laptop for sale in the UK but it comes in at over 1000 pounds. Perhaps there would be a off the shelf machine that could do the job but as soon as a second party get involved the price is bound to go up.

thats true...but if somebody made this effort to make it available or better yet..a device that worked pretty similar to a computer with less utilities like just a screen keyboard and the ability to run a dj program. lets face it being a modern dj requires allot of headaches for allot if not most djs, now with this computer settings, drivers, audio and video cards, this is not like going to work using a computer to punch in numbers or info...you have to literally know more than basic computer knowledge to be trouble free...plug and play now days is more like "plug and hope for it to play" the dj industry needs to come up with a very very friendly user computer system for djs only just plain plug an play...like plug a speaker to the amp...you plug you play no science to it....would be my ultimate dream.
