Have been looking at this mixer myself. Haven't read any bad reviews yet. Quality sound, components and build seem to feature tops.
Don't understand their model numbering though: the original NUO4 includes the midi control, while the later model (NUO 4.0) doesn't!
I'd also welcome feedback on NUO+VDJ experiences...

I own and have been using the Ecler Nuo 4 (not 4.0) for some time now with VDJ. You can use the X-Fader for scratching and mixing Videos. But, one of the line faders has to be set to MIDI to enable the X-fader MIDI mode. I hope this helps. In general the mixer is great for general mixing but not great for hardcore turntablists and scratch heads. I installed an ecler eternal fader and hoped to get a good a cut as with my Hak 360 and it did not happen. You have to scratch with it for while to get what I mean. They did fix the X-fader issue in the Nuo 4.0 but they also took out the MIDI section :( All in all its a sad story because I love the Nuo 4, why didn't they leave in the MIDI and fix the fader issue? Now the Nuo 4.0 has nothing to set it apart from many other 4 channel high end mixers. If you want a scratch mixer with MIDI now you best buy a Rane ttm56 or a Ecler 360/380 and a Denon DN-HC1000S (soon to be in stores!) MIDI interface and bobs your uncle.
Again I hope this helps. D.
