can anyone please help? i ve read a few of the forums on here and am still having a few probs... firstly i've just switched from cdgs to laptop using numark cue to host karaoke. i have an external hard drive with 12500 files on and loading the hard drive takes quite a while to open and when it does finally open, occassionally it 'sticks'. mainly while searching for another file. reading through someone mentions filter folders as a solution? can anyone tell me how to create these if this is the answer... if there is another solution, then any ideas would be welcomed.
many thanks

My first thought would be on how the files on the hard drive are collected. I have about 10,000 tunes and VDJ loads fine for me using an external hd.

My files are grouped as follows
A
B
C
D
-- Artist Folder (ie: Depeche Mode)
----- Album Folder

Each artist gets their own folder under the alpha folder, and each album gets it's own folder under the artist's folder. This allows VDJ to only scan/load the files it needs when it needs them.

My system is a Pentium quad core 2.4ghz with 4gb ram. The hard drive is an external that runs up at 7200rpm on a USB 2 and is 600gb.

Hopefully all these details will give you some sort of idea of what works based on what works for me. However details change from system to system AND I am not a pro DJ, I'm a software developer who used to DJ many, MANY years ago.

Best of luck,
James
