Hello guys,

I am having a problem whereby I get a distorted TimeCode Signal...

I am running:

2 x Technics 1210 mk2 (Serato TimeCode Vinyl)
1 x Rane TTM56 Mixer
1 x Maya 44USB Soundcard
1 x Virtual DJ Pro 6.02

Since I am running Turntables through a LINE input soundcard (Maya 44usb), I have 'Apply RIAA Phono Filter' option selected in [Timecode Config / Debug], Which gives me 100% Signal, but the green lines are fuzzy and distorted as can be seen in the image below:

As you can see, I get a 100% signal but the green lines are fuzzy/distorted.. I have tried playing with all the virtual knobs to change the quality of the green lines but to no luck...

Then we have a strange phenomenom whereby if I move the needle to the end of the control vinyl, the green lines get clearer (not quite perfect though)...The signal is stil at 100% quality. This can be seen in the image below:

Then If I uncheck the option 'Apply RIAA Phono Filter' in [Timecode Config / Debug], I get a variable/fluctuating signal quality (between 0% and 100%), BUT I seem to get a strong undistorted green circle in this mode...

SO My signal quality is variable, and unreliable, but the green circles are strong and undistorted, as can be seen in the image below:

What I really want is 100% unwavering Signal quality and Undistorted Clear green circles...It seems with regard to the option 'Apply RIAA Phono Filter', when it is checked, we get full signal, but bad quality circles, and when it is unchecked we get poor signal, with good quality green circles...

I want BOTH..

Any help is much appreciated :)

Has anyone else experienced this or know how to help me here?

Sounds like you need either new needles or timcode vinyl.

Yeah seems like that... Or you have to calibrate your needles. Give them a bit more (or a bit less) weight. Which needles are you using?

I have brand new Shure M447's that i fitted a few days ago...with regards the tone arm settings...

3 grams weight
4.5 height
0 Antiskate...

This is what it recommends on the box for the Shure m447's...

The weird thing is, the fuzzyness of the green circle, only occurs when i 'Apply RIAA Phono Filter' in Timecode/Debug...So can someone confirm that the green lines are meant to stay Top quality when you hit the 'Apply RIAA Phono Filter' button?

Ok, I have tried adjusting the tone arm settings, height, weight, anti skate etc, and it has made no difference...

Also, I have tried turning the Serato TimeCode Vinyl over to side B and set things up for this side to work, and I am still seeing the fuzzy green circle, but with 100% signal quality...

So, I need some help from the top guys on this board please...Can anyone tell me the significance of the Green Circles being clear? What does this effect etc...And also, how can i fix this problem??

BUMP!

I have nearly the same setup (exept the mixer) and exactly the same problems! Unfortunately no solution yet :(

If the filter makes it works, you can obviously disable that filter. Let's see what else can be the problem... Can you try 33RPM as the vinyls are designed for 33.

i am having almost similiar problem....only my signal is a straight line not a circle and my songs are playing backwards any help on that ?

The timecode signal is a stereo signal.

In your case, apparently only one channel is detected.

im only using one vinyl does that have something to do with it ?

what version software r u using?

Hi Guys - I don't use timecode vinyls but just a suggestion - have you tried playing an ordinary vinyl record into you mixer to prove you carts and stylus are good, then try the same into the computer and record or play it back not using PCDJ - again this will just allow you to isolate the problem by proving if it is the deck, sound card, sound card drivers or PCDJ. Then at least you know exactly where the problem is - at the moment the problem may be a faulty deck or sound card etc and all PCDJ is doing is trying to fix a bad signal.

Hope this helps.

what do u mean by play the record on the computer?
