hi dj cel...

its the same as the other one...i wait for your feedback after you're meeting in order to unwitch my lap jejeje

thanks again for youre time

oks.. my problem is fixed... this worked for me.... i created another account and installed the vdjpro again...maybe the error was because my user name was too short or my settings when was created were corrupted... i don't know.... surly is an isolated case... sounds crazy but it worked.

anyway surly theres a tech explanation, that the tech guys surly gonna figure it out.

thanks djcyder and everyone here

Just to follow up on this we made a new admin account on this mac with a much longer user name the other reinstalled vdj for the new users and bingo, it worked. There are so many different things that could of been changed with the new user account its really impossible to know what fixed the problem or what didn't. One things for sure this is the first case on record with this problem. Happy mixing.

ALERT ALLL OF U ON THIS....HEREs MY STORY...ABOUT THIS.....Hope help u if the situation present to u....and correcting

As i said, i created another account and everything ran well, and like DJ Cyder said, that seemed to be the problem. Nevertheless i got that bad feeling about the "short name user" and lazy to pass everything to the new account... i started to make some tastes.

What i figured out and noticed after install and uninstall my old and new library, is that the old library that i was managing has an extension .itl ... when i created my new library in the other account, the library named just 'itunes library', without that extension

Curious:

When i create a new library in my old account, the library created has .itl exrension (visible in the file name). In my new account, when i launch itunes, the library created by default has no visible extension in the file name. Believe it or not it happens.

Bottom-line

what i did was copy the library created in my new mac account and loaded it in itunes in my old account (the account i used to work)... and bingo!!!! when i launched vdj in my old account (which didn't load it before) vdj read the library.

Strange:

The itunes in my old account creates libraries with .itl in the file name. In my new mac account itunes doesn't create the extension in the file name. In the initials tastes that we made , we used new libraries created in the old account (remeber Dj Cyder?), thats why didn't worked.

what miss

what im doing now is cheat my mac importing just the xml file to this new library in order to no create one by one of my playlist.

when i finish ill tell what happened...

but is discarded the long of the 'user name' warranty you.

oks ... with the news that theres a virus that create a itl extension in the itunes library that makes that vdj wont be able to read it. My sugestion is create another library and it should work.
The strange thing is that i use mac... there are not virus in mac world right?

Macs can get viruses. it's just they have not been targetted as PC's were so easy to infect plus the ratio of PCs to Mac means that there was no reason for hackers to bother.

This is changing though and I think with the increase in Mac popularity will see some Mac specific viruses come along especially as Windoiws 7 has much tighter security too...

Cheers,

Roy

At least someone who is aware of the reality and not controlled by Apple's marketing. I hope people will understand it one day :-)

i have to be honest, and i don't know if i wrote it before; this library became from my old pc which has virus... so, i believe after my tastes, that this virus that surly became from my pc, corrupted my file in my old pc and just didn't worked in my mac... in this case to be loaded in vdj.

Did you get this resolved? I noticed your itunes xml file is named "itunes library.xml" instead of "itunes music library.xml". I think this is why you are having issues. I believe VDJ only looks in the default path for itunes but also only looks for "itunes music library.xml". When you created your new account, I bet it created the proper xml file and that is why it worked.

In doing some research, it looks like itunes creates "itunes music library.xml" when using the default path for the library, but if you create a new library outside of itunes default path, it will create "itunes library.xml" (don't know why!) I am trying to get my external drive working with VDJ and itunes and was experimenting with the xml file and found when i copied the "itunes library.xml" into the default path, VDJ did not see itunes.

Does this make any sense?

All my music has been purchased from Itunes. When I try and put a song on the turn table, it goes there but it says "error" right above the tt. This happens on both tt. I noticed that my songs (in the expandable menu on the left) shows all my itunes music with a little yellow "?". Any ideas?

i am so pissed off.
how can i recommend ANY of my mac friends to use VDJ when VDJ can't even read iTunes playlists?

this is absurd.
it works fine on PC, but not on mac.

itunes integration is one of the major reasons i even bought this!
atomix needs to update their software to work correctly with itunes.

AND NOW!

still does not work.
i paid for the pro license and this software will not sync with itunes library.
blah.

hello, I have the solution to your problem, contact me by MP, bye

hey i just got the hercules mk4, however it comes with vdj 6 LE and it doesnt show my itunes playlist only the artist. does anyone know how to fix this.. the LE version doesnt have the config. option on top of the screen unless i upgrade. can anyone help. i really dont want to upgrade since i just mess around at home and dont do this for a living.

FYI, I had the same problem on a mac (all the latest version OS and VDJ) and my itunes had disappeared form VDJ. I noticed that my iTunes library was named iTunes Library.xml. I've changed it to iTunes Music Library.xml and it now shows in VDJ. So problem solved for me.

I totally gave up on itunes integration since building and losing my customized playlists.
itunes kept nagging me to upgrade but I kept declining the prompts because of my customized lists.

One day I went to turn the pc on and itunes decided to scrap my library along with my playlists !!
to this day I don't know who, where, why, or what the heck happened..?

It even downloaded the newest version itself (yup, itself)
I only use it to buy new tunes then drag and drop into my newly built virtual folders (in vdj) now
the only other reason I use itunes is to create new playlists, export them out and into vdj playlist's folder, other than that I won't touch itunes with a bargepole sorry.

Lost too much work with them in the past.

To date my itunes now 'self deletes' it's music libraries after every 3rd usage or so ?

definately something wrong with it big time !

how about this for freaky: itunes shows up in my vdj browser when it feels like it lol, we seek it here, we seek it there ;) then..poof, it's gone lol

mad !

YES! This worked for me too. I changed the *.xml file to "iTunes Music Library.xml" and rebooted VDJ. I can now see all my playlists with the latest changes.

Yes this works changing name to iTunes music library.xml just remember that time any changes are made to iTunes database library you will need to change old filed iTunes library.xml to iTunes Music Library.XML
This is the only way that iTunes playlist in Virtual DJ will be up to date.

Im sorry, but how exactly do you change the .xml file to "itunesmusiclibrary.xml" I just got a Mac and I'm still getting familiar with it

Hello,

I got the same problem with my itunes library on a external HDD and it's working now !

I'm on Mac. In Finder, you just have to use the search area and type "itunes music library.xml". It will find the file and the parent folder where your have to change the name of the file. In fact, it's strange but itunes switch the name of the file in "itunes library.xml". So VDJ can't find the right folder to load. That's why it was not working...

I hope you will understand my english...
