Sujet: Denon DN-S3700 and Cue

Ce topic est ancien et peut contenir des informations obselètes ou incorrectes.

Well, I can't seem to find my last post so here we go again.

Is anyone using the 3700 with Cue/VDJ? I am really interested in this player and would love to hear some user feedback.

I am still using my Cue version 4.0 as I prefer it's playlist management but am thinking of making the switch to the newer version as I start to slow down this winter.

A few immediate questions i ahve about the 3700 and Cue are:

If you use the 3700 as the sound card, how do you use the sampler? What output do you use?

Also, how can you get to the different cue points in a song past the 3 the Denon has buttons for?

Any, issues you know of regarding use and reliability?

Thanks in advance, again!

Ok, so I found it, it had been moved to the Gear Tech forums but unfortunately it doesn't have much in terms of responses. Anybody else using these yet?

Works fine in VDJ 6.03

update ;)

Thanks DJ, can you add any specifics to the questions I asked about cue points, sampler etc...?

The only reason I've never upgraded is because I much prefer the recordcase management of 4.0 but love everything else about the newer versions. Any tips on effective use of the new recordcase? Like how do you get around using "recurse" each time you want to look in a folder?

Thanks again.

The S3700 is "limited" by what it has buttons for..
So to access cues beyond the buttons that the cd player has buttons for, you need to use keyboard, or other midi controller..

Each s37000 will output a DECK from VDJ, and not the sampler as a separate channel
(sampler will be on top of the deck sound)

If you want to have sampler at as separate channel (3rd) at your external mixer, you need to use additional soundcard for the sampler, such as your PC's soundcard...

:)

so are you currently using them? Do you like them enough to drop $2K? I see someone already has a mapper for the 3700 so that could be a possibility but I think I can live with 3 cues and use my mouse to access others.

So When I check the remote control option for the 3700, it will then sync up with the decks. Now will I essentially have my onboard sound as an additional sound card option to run the sampler? Then by doing so, will this make the samples a bit louder? Because as of now, they're horribly soft in sound output.

Also, how do you activate a sample from say deck b interface without stopping the sample playing on deck a? Right now I am using the Numark DMC2 and when I play a sample on a deck (by using the DMC) and start a different sample on deck b, it stops deck a's sample. Does that make sense?

Thanks for all of your help thus far.

I dont have the denon decks no... sorry..

I've played a bit with them, and they are awesome. Totally recommendable..
Alternative Pioneer CDJ400, 900 or CDJ 2000.
If you like the spinning platter, then its Denon for you ;)

Yes, if you have 2 denon decks, each deck could be for each deck in VDJ, and have sampler sound run to your pc soundcard.
If this is then connected at an external mixer, you would be in full control of the master volume of the sampler, at the channel its connected to at your mixer.

cool thanks. Yeah I spent a few minutes with one at GC and really, really liked it.

So when you have a midi deck with soundcard installed does it then show your laptop output as an additional soundcard? I do use an external mixer and would like to have the sampler on it's own channel.

Any input on this question?

without sampler to a separate sound output, the sampler is applied on TOP of the "master sound" (aka both decks)
if you have the sampler routed at soundcard settings, to its own soundcard output, you can adjust and apply the samler, as you wish, on its own channel at your external mixer.

There reason the sampler "at deck a" , stops when you applies a new "at deck b" , is because you are doing it in skin (aka its only 1 sampler, at the master out).

If you go to sampler BROWSER, you can apply up to 12 sample slots independently, and on top of each other etc

Firemix, thanks but I don't speak a lick of french. Get it, French Lick, LOL! Care to translate?
