Sujet: Free upgrades .... how lucky we really are!

Ce topic est ancien et peut contenir des informations obselètes ou incorrectes.

Just got thinking about this, it is fantastic the way Atomix look after licenced users. Although I've not taken the plunge to use V6 for my gigs yet the option is there if I need it.

I bought a Mac Pro at the start of September, and bought a copy of Parallels so I could integrate Windows as many of my utilities are PC only. The version I bought (4.0) was released to support Snow Leopard, so I thought it would be good for a while. They have now released 5.0 which has new features but also fixes a raft of issues that never got sorted in 4.0 updates.

It cost me £50 for the initial program, and just over 2 months later they are looking for a £35 upgrade fee as it's out with the 30 day grace period. That's way more than half the initial cost.

Many other software companies operate this way, and their customer support is impossible to contact and charges for support incidents after 30 days irrespective of what it's about. It's a myriad of confusing web pages and the net result is to put you off and it works. I finally got a ticket submitted with an estimated reply in 8 days WTF.

I have had my run-ins with some of the people here in the past, but having visited the forum daily for the past year it is easy to see the fantastic level of support both from other forum members and the teamers. Most people here do passionately care about the future development of VDJ and are willing to help others with problems.

We are really looked after here :) Thanks!

+1 and some.

One of the things I have always liked about the VDJ forums is that people who can help in a paticular area, help, those who can't ask and most times get an answer. Nobody here claims to know it all but there is a collective welth of knowledge and support that is in MHO unmatched by any other DJing software forum.

Having free updates is a privilage, as is talking to the majority on this forum.

Thanks.

Many of us are criticized because we invited users that are using an illegal copy of VirtualDJ to buy a legal license and take advantage and benefits as a full VirtualDJ Pro License user. For me is the best way to fix and resolve issues and headaches around VirtualDJ use, and give a chance to another DJ fellow to really enjoy this great software.

Thanks to you guys that support VirtualDJ buying a legal license of VirtualDJ, Atomix can continue to develop, support and offer such great benefits like this free upgrades.

Big Thumbs Up for Atomix :-)

Cheers

Have to agree with all comments so far and then some.

Keep up the good work,

It's great we have free upgrades and updates, and I thank VDJ for that. However, there free because the upgrades really doesn't mean alot to the user if it doesn't work or do much for a true hardware dj. Not a controller dj. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with beiing a controller dj. But the updates are soley geard for controller users. The most recent update was engine 4, but you cannot use that because the music sounds like it's being put in a blender. Why put out a FREE update when it doesn't even work right? Just to delight VDJ users? Doesn't make any sense!

I have to agree with Syberman.

Hardware is hardware.

I think the reason what you see in an upgrade seems more geared towards controllers is simply because a huge number of different controlers have been comming on the market recently and they have done a great deal of work to provide as much compatibility as they can. The new script system for mapping is great.

I can appreciate that it may seem like nothing is being done towards timecode users but find it hard to believe that this is the case. When you look at the list of changes made when an update is released not all of them are obvious big changes. Some are glitch fixes and so on.

Not shure what the connection is between updates "not working" and being free comes in . But each to his own opinion.

Good luck getting your issues resolved:- )

I think that if you had version 1.0 and compare it to v6 you will find there has been a great number of improvements over the years, all of which were free with some fixes along the way.

As the features and hardware support grew so did the objective and need for testing in a broader way which now takes more time to release.
With this release came the recent introduction of W7 and a whole new batch of things to address.
This release had quite a list of things that got fixed based on what users needs were.

The Time Code users wanted the v4 engine back, and it was added.
Yes there is a sound issue, yes it will be addressed.

I think the point of this thread was to say thank you for the free upgrades.
In old school language, the fixes would be classified as patches, and the new features would have been a chargeable upgrade that was given for free.
All software has glitches as it evolves towards perfection, none of them escape this and are perfect.
Some are close to perfection in the eyes of the beholder, but also bring with them very limited format and hardware support.
It's probably a simple thing to do to use a dedicated sound interface, a single control method, and your choice of mp3 or mp4 format support.
Bringing to the table what VDJ does is not quite that simple and therefore more of a challenge to perfect.

But Atomix does hear you all despite what you may think with what I read here.

Having read things here for a while it seems that timecode is not the biggest strength of VDJ. Yes, it is a feature, but if TC is your biggest priority there may be other solutions out there.

Every product has it's strengths and weaknesses. Most important is what is the priority for you. Serato has the accurate timecode and reportedly better stability. VDJ has a better UI and far more features.

The search crash has been an issue but only for a percentage of people. Hopefully it's now sorted. Timecode is important for a percentage of people. Although I haven't embraced the new mapping features (still using the V5 DLL) it is fantastic for supporting new hardware as soon as it comes out. Overall VDJ does provide the best all round solution.

Sorry Guys but I just can't get it. Maybe you think timecode isn't good, maybe for heavy scratchig it isn't good (I don't be sure) but I use timecode at some times and never have an issue with this version. Please stay focus, if you are talking about version 6 and not 6.0.3 then you could have issues. v4 was there because it was asked for many timecode users to be there, but it need fixes to be running like it use to in previous versions. However, using serato timecodes and virtualdj, it is very accurate and works very good. I use v5 and VirtualDJ Timecodes and have also very good response (with no heavy scratch).

But here again, if you don't have all settings on place (like correct weight and antiskating were applied, and good VirtualDJ advance config on timecodes, with circle graphs and 100% quality in all timecode... Did you check this quality all the timecode long?. For me timecodes needs improvements yes, but it work good so far for me.

You can use the newsest version of VirtualDJ or use the version you like to work with, no problem. It still is cool thing you can switch to any VirtualDJ version you want, at no extra cost. VirtualDJ is always in develop and you could be sure VirtualDJ would be stronger each time. Best version 3 is 3.4, best version 4 is 4.3, best version 5 is 5.2.1 and best version 6 still in development, but for now 6.03 is that version.

+1 on this

V 5.2.1 is the best for me and can not see myself upgrading from here. I will leave v6 for you all to play with. VDJ has become
like McDonald's yes you like it but , is it as good as it was back in the day...? Now do you just take your kids there for something
fast to eat...? Or do you eat there everyday....? Would you take your girl to McDonald's....? I say girl because a woman would
not let you... and if should would i need her number......:)

Now, this is a story all about how
My life got flipped-turned upside down
And I liked to take a minute
To get ready to it
I'll tell you how Virtual DJ turned my life upside down

On the south side of Chicago born and raised
On Virtual DJ was where I spent most of my days
Chillin' out mixing on my bedroom floor or at the club
And shootin some cold ass mixes out
When a couple of guys
They were up to no damn good
Started flashin and upgrading in my neighborhood
So I update one time to find out that life is not the same here in the big city anymore...

LIKE BACK IN THE DAY CAN SOMEONE ELSE FINISH THE RAP :::))))

+1... Atomix is the ish!
