Sujet: the end-all, be-all boot camp post?

Ce topic est ancien et peut contenir des informations obselètes ou incorrectes.

There are so many posts out there with conflicting and confusing information. It would be nice to get to the bottom of which Windows OS works best with bootcamp. Seems like most advise to stay away from Vista, though what about XP vs. W7?

Anybody having great or miserable results? Video? Hardware?

which model mac are we talking about here?

Right Cyder, that would be pertinent info!

According to "About this Mac":

OS X Leopard
2.4 Ghz Core 2 Duo
2 GB Ram

Does that help?

Thank you for the timely post.

XP or Win 7 should be fine. Vista is a dog.

I was doing some research and found out that XP running in a Mac is really good. I meet one of the software writters for microsoft and was told that Windows 7 has the best of XP & Vista combined. The best OS for bootcamp is XP or Windows 7

My Macbook Pro

2.4 Ghz Core 2 Duo
4 Gigs of ram
320 gig HD 7200 rpm
Nvidia Geforce 8600m GT Video card 256mb

I heard the same thing about W7. Though, XP seemed to give me rock solid performance and might be more compatible with everything instead of trying to upgrade all the drivers and what not.

XP is a very rock solid OS. Its stable and doesnt consume alot of resources. This is why it has very low latecity.

Thanks Caliente, then that is the route I will go. How was your birthday party?

The party was really good. I didnt get that drunk but i had a great time. I had more bottles on my table than the bar.. LOL

Kizzle.. Do you have enough room in your HD to partition it. Before you do a bootcamp, make sure your hd has alot of space.

I have 2 setups.
1) Rack Mount 5U ASUS running XP service pack 3 No Problems at all!
2) ASUS G50V gave me a hell of a hard time to start. Once I figured it out it runs VDJ and HC450 fine. I will be testing the Time Code engine on both next week I hope. With the Vista maching I can not run my Chauvet DMX dongle... just doesnt work. And they have no fix for it. There is anouther program I have also that just will not run properly on Vista. I am hoping to try Windows 7 one the Vista machine after Christmas.

That's what's up! Wish I could've been there....

Yah, plenty of HDD space. 500 GB internal in my Mac, I figure I'll give windows 100 GB to leave plenty of space for file transferring, programs, etc.

Thanks for confirming my hopes Watty! You said you use XP and the HC 4500? Good Results? I use the 4500 on Vista with my Dell XPS, and am hoping I'll get great performance from bootcamp-xp as well

Just thought I'd follow up....

About two months have gone by since i converted to Mac with bootcamp, and I could not have been happier! Even though I don't have a dedicated video card, video is still pretty smooth and crisp. Though, an upgrade to a mac pro with a separate card is definitely in the future.

MackBook Pro late 2007
bootcamped with windows 7
latest VDJ
denon HC-4500

Smoother working than I've ever seen in XP or Vista (blahhh).

Thanks for everyone's input a few months back.

Is your bootcamp setup properly meanning, you have the diamond icon to switch from Mac or Windows ?

I'm now on a macbook pro bootcamped with Win 7 and the HC4500. It's excellent.
