Sujet: serato = Lazy people

Ce topic est ancien et peut contenir des informations obselètes ou incorrectes.

im now totally convinced that serato is for lazy ppl ... i unerstand that serato is the industry standard but I'm not gonna conform because that is not me. comparing serato n vdj is like comparing the original razr phone to a Iphone 3g. once u master vdj or take the time to master it, there is nothing stopping you. right now i use vdj + vinyl and U46DJ and it is amazing .. while serato just fits .. is slim n it fits with no space for creativity

I just found out about the "getfood" feature

Kudos to the Team

Really?

lol oh well .. jus had to clear my head

Serato = lazy people..

But then VDJ has automix .. I don't think it can get any lazier than automix.

Dont get me wrong VDJ is by far better than serato in terms of features, but.. vdj has automix.

yep ..too lazy to set up the soundcard

yeah but it is an option u cant make a gernal statement like that .. i know 90% of the DJ's do not use that

plus what happens if u at a gig and u need to use the bathroom??

same thing we did 20 years ago; play a 15 minute track or a prepared mix(tape). The full version of Rapper's Delight comes to mind..

Kids these days.. can't think beyond the automix button..;)

$8.99

That is what a hammer costs me one time when I was building a dog house. It turned out horrible! The poor dog was almost better off sleeping outside in a rain storm! But I built it myself. I mowed a few yards and bought all the tools and stuff to make it too.

Now one day I was helping my dad shingle a church. It was insane hot in South Louisiana that summer and I thought I was the king...at least the first morning. I had my own tool belt and my brand new hammer. Well a few hours later I was beat. I wanted nothing to do with the hammer or the belt. I had blisters on my hands and my fingers were banged up rather bad from missing the tacks and hitting them! So I carried shingles up the ladder to the guys. I would work hard for 10-15 minutes then I would sit under the shade tree and rest for 5 or so.

That weekend my Dad was raising hell about my brother loosing his favorite hammer. But that could not stop work right? The construction must go on just like the mail must go through. So Monday my Dad was to start construction on a new project that they had been clearing the land for, for three months.

Two years later they finished that project. It was a 26,000 sq ft mansion that was around 3.5 million dollars to complete. My Dad passed away later that year and I was talking to the owner of that home at his funeral. I wore my dads tool belt to the funeral (you would have to know you NEVER saw him without it). This man that I did not know at all pulled out my hammer and said that my dad always talked about how proud he was of me and that stupid $8.99 hammer.

You see....it makes no difference the brand or price of the tool that is used rather the artist that graces all the gifts that the particular tool possesses.

It sure is nice having the best tool you can have to perform our craft though.....Thanks to the team

What is the get food feature?

Serato does have automix.....

Serato does have Automix for ya information.

It doesnt have auto mix. When you have the serato box disconected, it play's one song at a time. The song finishes... Theres a pause and the next song starts. Its an offline player. Two songs songs being mixed together with no gap is Automixing.. Not one song at a time.

One thing i don't understand.. How does software make someone lazy ? The software doesnt hipnotize you and tell you not to do anything... I have Virtual DJ & Serato and im all about being hands on. I always have my next track ready.

It does NOT have automix so chill out. I was using it last week guys.

Everyone software has its own way of making the user work. Now if you dont want to use its features.. it makes the USER lazy. A lie?

What's wrong with being lazy! I carried a heavy carpet covered plywood coffin with 2 tts, a mixer and all my mics, cables, cords and connectors in it along with a seprerate rack with my amps, crossover, eq and compressor in it plus a cart with my bass cabinet, 2 speakers, 2 speaker poles AND 10-15 crates of vinyl for over 16 years before I discovered laptops and BPM Studio in 1998.

If I want to be lazy and use Dj software me and my aching back with two herniated disks from carrying all that crap around has earned me the right! I learned how to beat mix, beat juggle, phase, flange, double, triple, repeat, loop, remix on the fly all the "old fashion way" when it was the ONLY way. Now that I am old and broken down (unlike my Technics 1300's which will never die) if I want to use cue points, hot cues, bpm sync, effects buttons, loop buttons and sample buttons so I can be more creative, spend less time in the headphones and more time taking requests, schmoozzing with customers, picking out music, playing with the lights and getting food....that is my time honored, time earned, God given right.....Now if you odn't mind I got to use the restroom so hit that search and load the long versions of Din Da Dah and Lil Louis into the playlist and when I get back pass the chips and salsa and Mountain Dew, I got a show to do!

you people are too funny...

Serato = Lazy People ? ? ? ?

wow...

alrighty then....

to me all digital dj systems seem to make the dj lazy at first, I did this when i switched to a digital system from cds / vynil. instead of thinking about the music i was playing i would just grab a track that kinda goes and load it spending no real time thinking where it would go in my set (got out of that tho!) VDJ , Serato and the likes makes finding music very easy and is only a tool. picking a track that goes well, flows and makes the crowd go woo / yeh / insert "i like that track noise here"/ is what makes a good jock
i also found it hard remembering what the names o tracks where making my sets more play it safe. one of the + points for me was album art and the way it is visualized in vdj (one of the reasons i got it over serato). when i first started with vdj i very rarely used the search feature because id digitized my tracks into cd folders and would flick through the album art as i could remember what the sleve / case looked like.
I dont think it _makes_ them lazy, it just seems that some people transfering to software dj tools either find it hard to remember the names of hundreds of thosands of tunes or where already lazy and the software just helps them become lazyer!

to me there are two types of djs in this world those that are bounceing arould looking like tits in a booth, loving every moment and feeling the crowd, and those that txt at a gig

thats my 2 pence anyway.

Richie, do you have a VirtualDJ license? Your profile does not show that you're a licensed user. Either you don't have a legal license or you're too lazy to setup your profile.

Ok,
I am going to put an end to this tit for tat nonsense right here and now.
There is no need for it and when it spreads to other forums it has been allowed to go too far.

We're all lazy or we would still be haulin' boxes of vinyl or cd's around.

In the future mods, lets keep this crap under control, we have friends on both side of this and don't need the friction.

It doesn't matter what gets posted on the ssl forum about vdj, just lead by example and let it go.

Bump, bump bump.......another one bites the dust....locked
