After I installed the 6.0.5 upgrade and tried to open it up, VDJ gave me a message that said my database on my C drive was corrupt and go to config, browser and click on Fix.
Did that and it's seem to correct the start up problem. Just wondering if this is normal for the install.

There were issues with the DB prior to 6.0.5. It looks like they've added an auto check feature to correct the problem, I know I have issues with my current DB. I will upgrade to .5 tomorrow and let you know if I get the same.
Cheers,
Roy

Yes, as part of this update was the FIX for incorrectly identifying corrupt databases - which led to missing entries and analyzed files showing not analyzed, etc, etc.
So if you get the 'Corrupt Database' message after you first run the 6.0.5 update then this is a positive sign because we are detecting the issue we are trying to correct. The concern would be any messages on future launches of VirtualDJ.

So far so good! Actually, I've not had any issues since upgrading to V 6.0 Guess I've been lucky.

Had this message on my desktop (softwate test machine). Following a Fix and upon a restart, no problems. I've no idea what state my database was in on this system to be honest when I initially installed 6.0.5 - it's not a database I maintain, so no surprises there!
Installed it on my gig machine and I didn't get the message. I know for sure this database was/is clean.
I've done a load of testing on my gig machine [taking backups between tests, obviously!] and I'm happy that the database issues are resolved. My testing involved adding, renaming, removing tracks that previously caused issues (after executing the Fix command).
Fix is working well :-).

I keep getting a messaging also saying to go to config and fix because of the external hard drive being corrupt. Now all the music is no longer analyzed. What do I do?

i had the EXACT same problem after upgrading to 6.07. it told me that my database was corrupt. after "fixing" it, THOUSANDS of files are no longer analyzed and cue points are GONE! what the heck? Is there a way to undo?
Posté Fri 16 Apr 10 @ 7:13 pm
Not sure there is an "undo" per say, and I would say it is probably not the program. If you have Windows, have you tried restoring to an earlier time? Then take a copy of the database before opening VDJ.
Always take a copy of that DB file when backing up your music. Unless you really have lots of spare time.

System Restore will not touch user files and documents. Therefore if you roll back Windows, the VDJ database will not be rolled back.
I take it you do not have a backup of your database?

Then the big question is??
What does System Restore touch then?

I had a major disaster performing at a New Years party with this regard.
What is going on...???
I need it fixed and it seems there is no clear cut solution from reading the threads? Is that the case?
If not, please help me rectify the situation a.s.a.p

You should never make any changes to your system just prior to going to a gig. Always wait until you have plenty of time to install and test the update (If you DJ at weekends only, then Monday is a good time to do this.)
Also, this thread is over 2 years old and is for a very old and out-of-date version of the software. Are you still using versions prior to v6.0.5? We have been on v7 for some time now and the latest version is v7.3. There have been many bugs fixed in the latest version as well as many new features added. Please see http://www.virtualdj.com/wiki/VirtualDJ_History.html
Simply restore your v6 database from your backup. If you do not have a backup, then unfortunately you will have to start again from scratch. You should always backup your database and music collection on a regular basis along with any other files on your computer that are important to you. Please see backup database & settings and backup music collection.
Once you have restored your database, install the latest VirtualDJ v7.0.3 from your Download Center. Start the software, then use the VirtualDJ browser to browse to where your music is located. Right-click on the drive/folder and choose Add to search DB. Repeat this for any other drives/folders that you have music stored on. Once you have done this, perform a check & fix on your database: http://www.virtualdj.com/wiki/I%20get%20an%20error%20message%20saying%20that%20my%20database%20is%20corrupted.html
