First off sorry that I have posted topics about this so much today. I am just really excited about getting my stuff to work.
....im new and just got my equipment....I have 1 denon 3000 a 2 channel mixer and a maya 44 usb....for my comp I have a athlon 3000+ with 512 mb ram. I have used vdj with the hercules with no problems even when scratching but i cannot get the time code to work. I have the 2.5.5 drivers for the maya. Under the config for the timecode I have the input set to chan 1&2: Activated Deck and output to ch1 and 2 master. My right turntaable (the one i am using) is always at 0% and sometimes silent. The red and green lines are going crazy. A few times I have been able to control a song but very limited and still without any higher than 0%. Sometimes I will start the tccd and then press play in vdj and I will be able to scratch and stuff but it is still kind of crackly.....Question.....when everything is hooked up correctly can i press play on the denon deck and have the song start playing in vdj or do i always have to press play in vdj? I have followed all the instructions from the vdj tcv website....dennon deck into soundcard....sound card into mixer. What could be wrong? How do I fix this and get it to work? Paisain.....you said u installed the maya to a differnt com port? how do i do this?
Thanks in advance for any help that anyone can provide.

Second - check out my blog for a starting point on the TimeCode Setup with the Maya
Granted I use the TCVs but it is a good start. Also, if you are using 2.1 then once you
get past the Maya configuration section in my blog, then you should be able to use the auto-config in VDJ to get 100% TC Signal. Oh, BTW you must have the TCCD in the players and playing when you use the Auto-Config. Also, make sure the Maya Control Panel is running in the background before you
launch VDJ. -- http://www.virtualdj.com/blog/cstoll/blog1116.html
Also, leave teh Input and Outputs in VDJ as follows -
Input - Ch 1&2 Left / Ch 3&4 Right
Output - Ch 1&2 Left / Ch 3&4 Right
Also, you may have to go into the Advance View >> of the TimeCode settings and change the Turntable to CD
it defaults to 33 for vynil.

maybe he said this...i just missed this...but also make sure in the Timecode configure screen you have have not selected 33rpm, but have selected cd player (i think its called line in, not sure) he pretty much covered everything i would have told you. oh yeah- also- your usb out might not have enough power to power the Maya. If this is the case- you would have to buy a powered USB hub and plug your maya into the hub.

hey cstoll......i updated my direct x drivers and i got it to work at least for the moment but it still says 0% and if i do autoconfig it says no timecode signal. I got it so i can press play on the deck and the mp3 starts/stops etc and the waveform doesnt move but i cant do loops. I am going to bed though and I will mess around with it more tomorrow. Thanks for your help.

No problem on the posts. The more I thought about what you orginally posted I want to make sure you change one setting in VDJ. When you go into the Config, Sound Card, and then click the Config Timecode... button, please make sure the Input and Output dropdowns are both set as follows --
Input - Ch 1&2 Left / Ch 3&4 Right
Output - Ch 1&2 Left / Ch 3&4 Right
Also, in the Maya Control Panel make sure in the Monitor Section all the channels are Muted.
Other than what Technical DJ reminded you about, just be patient and take your time going through these settings. If you don't know what you are doing then this is one of the configuration things that if you miss one step, you aren't going to get it right.
Let me know. BTW, could you post your PC Specs in your BLOG. Just to satisfy the curious.

hey.....this afternoon i had the deck controling vdj...however it still said no timecode and the only features on the deack i could use were scratch and pitch control.....no loops or samples....then this afternoon i unplugged everything and moved it and now it doesnt work at all again. All of the settings are as you said. Now when I press play on the denon the arm of the turntable in vdj goes to the turntable but the song and waveform will not move. All settings and wiring seem to be working. I think tomorrow I am going to borrow my friends digital camera and take pics of all the steps and what is happening so that maybe someone can help get it working. Oh yeah....the maya has the lights on (red and orange inside and red by the headphone jack) so this indicates it has enough power correct?
Any other suggestions are welcome....
anyone have similar problems?
this is making me not want to use vdj with the denon :(

Ok......Before I couldnt look at Dams blog for some reason but now I can..........Do I need y splitters and set it up just like he did? This could be the problem......Right now I have My denon red and white going to the maya analog in 1&2 and the analog out 1&2 going into my mixer ch1. Is this my problem? Do I need to get y splitters and set it up just like that? Please let me know! I hope this is my problem.

Ok I finally got it to autoconfig.....I turned down the input volume all the way under the asio config. I now have 100% while playing the track but while scratching it varys and has gone all the way down to 50%. Any way to fix this? Also, the loop function and sample function on the 3000 wont work correctly....Ive read that this is supposed to work....any ideas on how to get this to work? Also, how do I use vdj with one denon? Is there a button somewhere to switch between which vdj deck to use? I almost have it working perfectly.....I cant wait until I am totally confident in it working.
:) :) this makes me very happy.

DJ Vybez,
OK, to answer some of your questions and concerns on your settings:
"Do I need y splitters and set it up just like he (DAMS) did? " --
This is only if you plan on using your Denon as a CD player for CDs and a controller to VDJ with the TimeCoded CDs. If you don't plan on using the CD player to play CDs then you can
plug the outputs of the Denon straight into the Maya on Channels 1 & 2.
"I turned down the input volume all the way under the asio config." --
If you look at my BLOG you will see that I mention that in the Maya Control panel you need the Monitor Setting for all four Maya Input channels MUTED. The Input set to about 2/3 full and the output to MAX. This is all done in the Maya Control Panel that pops up when you click on the ASIO Config button. Once these are set then click on the Advance View button to ensure that the left deck is unchecked for the RIAA preamp and the Turntable is set to CD. Now with the Timecoded CD inserted in you Denon player, hit the play button and you should see the red and green wave form be displayed. Click Auto-Config and VDJ should adjust the GAIN and SILENCE to give you 100% signal.
"while scratching it varys and has gone all the way down to 50%" --
Yes during controlled movements of the TimeCoded CD the signal will vary however; if setup correctly the variant should be minimal and not a 50% drop. I think if you go back through the steps I outlined above the you will see a BIG difference.
"Also, the loop function and sample function on the 3000 wont work correctly" --
Well the loop function once everything is configured correctly should work fine. As for the sampler on the Denon, remember the Denon is reading the TimeCode and not the MP3 song, so what you are sampling is the TimeCode signal not the song. So, effectively the sampler is useless on the Denon.
"Also, how do I use vdj with one denon? Is there a button somewhere to switch between which vdj deck to use?" --
Now, I am assuming you are only using 1 CD Player because of your the above question on using 1 player to control both VDJ decks.
Good thread to read about using 1 external TimeCode device (turntable or cd player) with VDJ --
http://www.virtualdj.com/forum/display.html?topic=12226
It's going to require you to setup shortcuts to switch between the decks that you want to control with you timecoded CDs.
We are getting closer, just be patient and we will get it working.

Again cstoll.....thanks for all the help and support :)
I think for some reason my soundcard volume is higher than it is supposed to becuase I had the monitors muted like you said but for my input i had to put it all the way down.....im gonna keep messing with it and hopfully i can get all the little bugs figured out.....later today im gonna post some pics and mybed you can help me with the steps because i want to make a picture tutorial for setting up tccd so other people will be helped. Im gonna go through your steps again and hopefully i will get the scratching not to drop the percent so much. Thanks again and i will update you after i get to mess with it more this afternoon.

To update everyone......the tccds are working good....the only problem is that the audio quality is not at best. While the track is playing and also while scratching it crackles and pops. I think somehow the maya volume is up to high.....what should I adjust to get the audio quality better? Also, some other minor problems: when I try to set a loop on the denon the mp3 will not loop. instead it will go to wheere the end of the loop is supposed to be and then kind of skip and keep going. For example if I set a 4 beat loop then every 4 beats in the song it will kind of skip. Also last night when i was messing with it....if i started the timecode cd over (on the denon use the knob to adjust the track back to the begining) the mp3 song would also go back to the beginning when i pressed play again. today this is not hapening. Any ideas? Once I get these things ironed out it should be perfect. Also.....my tutorial is up so check my blog and let me know what you think.

DJ Vybez,
Think about what you are describing in your comment about the loops - and I might get popped for what I am about to say - when you set a loop on the CD Player you are only looping the timecode signal at the CD Player. The CD player has no way of telling the software that your just pressed the loop in / loop exit buttons. The software only hears the TimeCode signal and therefore the song (track) keeps playing in sequence. To create loops in the song you need to set the loop in and exit point by using VDJ, either by buttons on the skin or shortcuts to keys on the keyboard.
Now lets say you create a loop on the CD Player and it just so happens that the loop starts on a signal peak and ends on a signal drop. You now have a half-cycle gap in the TimeCode signal that would create in theory a skip, because a segment of the signal is skipped from the end of the loop back to the beginning.
As for your restart of the song from the beginning issue. Can't fully explain that one. Are you stopping the play of the song before turning the knob?
Glad to hear you are farther along on the configuration than you were a week ago.

hey cstoll...again thanks for all the help....your support has guided me through this amazingly.....yeah the loop thing isnt a neccesity since i know vdj is much better for this. I just wanted to get it to work since i'd seen other people post that they got it to work.....My other main concern is the sound quality crackling and poping alot. Im guessing this has something to do with the maya and not the tccd or the software....any ideas on how to fix this? Just to note ive noticed some other sound quality issues while using fl studio with the maya. Any suggestions?
Thanks again.....also let me know what you think of my tutorial :)

Looking for some help please.
So i've just bought Virtual DJ. I am running a set up with 2 pioneer CDJ MK3's with a 2 channel numark mixer. I'm using an American Audio Versaport sound card. It looks like everything is installed correctly so no worries there.
My problem is that I am only getting around 70% functionality and only in Relative mode. The time codes only seem to work in Relative mode, and only when I set my CDJ's to Vinyl. Flick them to CD and it's gone, no controls. In Vinyl I can stratch, play, pause etc so I know the time code works. However as soon as I flick to Absolute I get no controls agaiin, it's just doesn't work.
Can someone please help?
Thanks in advance.
