Sujet: Headphones Recommendations!

Ce topic est ancien et peut contenir des informations obselètes ou incorrectes.

Hey guys,

I'm currently using the Sennheiser HD205 headphones. Had them for almost 2 years now, and I'm thinking of getting new ones. The main problem i've had with this pair is that the wire isnt coiled. Which makes it very uncomfortable during a gig, cuz the wire is just too long. With that in mind, I want my new pair to have a coiled cable.

Anyway, what are your recommendations for a good pair of headphones? My budget is about S$200, which works up to almost USD$150. Any good recommendations? Thanks.

Everyone is going to have an opinion... but I have only ever used pro level Sony headphones for both DJ and audio mixing. The Sony MDR-Z700 headphones has been my choice for the past 6 years.

You should try as many as you can before you purchase if possible. I know Pioneer makes a very popular pair of headphones as well.

Goof luck!

Sony MDR-Z700 DJ is just a fake...you used this pair of headphone for 6 years but they were a fake hence you've never appreciate the original Sony sound :DDDDDDDDDDDDD

Hi mate.

My faves at the moment are Shures SRH840. I use them for DJing, live music and also recording work. No gimmicks just a punchy bass and clear sound. Fairly good isolation to.

As with speakers, headphones are a personal preference and second only to speakers in the number of different units around. The general rules tho are 1. Closed back 2. Cushions that fit over as oposed to sitting on your ears. 3. Tight and controlled bass respnse. 4. Comfortable to wear for extended periods of time and 5. Verry robust, solid construction. Shinny badges and titles like "supper" "mega" and "turbo" anything are best avoided LOL

Sennheiser do sell lots of spares, so you may be able to just buy a coiled cable for your current pair of headphones! You'd have to do a quick search to check though.

The headphone's I've been using are Sennheiser HD25, I can honestly say they are amazing! They're really good at blocking out outside noise so you don't have to turn them up really loud to cue. The sound quality is awesome on them too, and they're reallly light weight and rugged. They sell every single part as a spare so should anything ever break, just buy that new part rather than a whole new pair.

Careful though, because my ones came with a short straight cable, but the coiled cable is available to order separately. Nowadays I think I might have seen some versions come with the coiled cable as standard.

Hmm alright. Thanks so much for all the recommendations.

Chibbie: I believe there is a fake version of sony's MDR-Z700 out there. But if im not very much mistaken the name is slightly different. Something to the tune of MZR or MCR or smthing.

Sischo: Dont think hes using the fake ones bro.

Andytaylor: Thanks. Might actually consider replacing my cable as well as the cushion paddings. They are coming off already. Unless of course the cost of replacing them is too high, in which case it would make more sense to just buy a new pair.

djsonance, I bought my last two pairs in Japan... definately not fake! Name is a little different.

I have been using Sony MDR-V700 Head phones for 5-6 years now. One Cracked where they fold and the other one is still good. The sound quality is really good.

A brand that sounds bad is " Aerial7 " The headphones feel more felixble and look stylish but the sound qaulity has to go.

I am saying that because in internet (ebay) you can find a lots of fake MDR-Z700DJ made in China. In Europe and USA the original headphone Sony is the MDR-V700DJ.

In your case, if you bought that in Japan, you likely had original headphone..in Asia Sony sells MDR-Z700DJ.

100% agree... we all have to be careful when purchasing online.

I have been through many pairs of headphones over the years. I usually work 4 to 6 nights a week so they get used and abused quite a bit. I've had sony, numark, technics, pioneer, sennhiser, but not one pair had lasted me more than a year except my Denons I have had now the last 2 years and still going strong. I will buy another pair in a heartbeat.
