What is the right setup for my RMX mixer using VDJ 6 (demo)? I just can't get it to work right, it works fine with the included VDJ LE 5 version, but it just puts the sound straight out when using the pro version, none of the bottons on the console funtion. I tried every possible sound setup combination. I downloded the later Hercules Driver, updated the internal sound card and nothing. I am using Win 7 toshiba laptop with Realteck sound card, Core 2 Duo, 3GB ram. I was thinking about upgrading to the Pro version but there's no need if I can't get it to work. Tks.

For Sound Setup, configure as follow:
- Input : None
- Output(s): Headphone > Master Chan1/2 / headphone Chan3/4
-Soundcard: DJ Console Rmx
As for using the Rmx as a controller, it should automatically be detected and listed as such in the MAPPER tab of the configuration menu.

Please ensure that you have the latest firmware and drivers for the console installed - A link to download can be found on the following page:

I found with my RMX that setting it up this way works:
Inputs: None
Outputs: Headphones
Sound card: 4.1 card
Then in the drop down menus: Master: Front output / Headphones: Rear Output
In the second drop down make sure that your Hercules RMX is selected instead of your built in PC card. I am running WinXP Pro and found that this way ran a bit smoother and was less likely to lag and stutter; using the RMX as an ASIO sound card seemed to create more problems for some reason, which seems counter intuitive but whatever works...
Your controller should be plug and play; I've talked to friends who've had issues getting VDJ 6 up and running with certain controllers on Win7; probably a firmware issue like was mentioned before. I haven't tried Win7 yet so I have no expertise there :( What version are you using in the demo? Because I found that when VDJ 6.0 came out the RMX had no buttons mapped and I had to start from scratch. Then a couple revisions later 6.0.x came out and they suddenly worked again.
Good luck!

It should makes no difference if you select "4.1" or "Rmx" as soundcard. If you check the box APPLY EQ ON INTPUT, the Rmx will then switch to ASIO mode. The error will occur if your last configuration was different. Never mind it, Simply configure it again .
As for using ASIO, it's a type of driver that was developed to obtain better results with music applications, so it is preferable to WDM which is the standard for basic WIndows applications. However, you need to configure the ASIO driver so it will perform correctly with your computer.
For example, before launching VDJ, in the Rmx Control Panel, switch to ASIO audio mode, and in the ASIO tab, and set the ASIO BUFFER SIZE to 480 (10 ms). This is a good average for most computer.
Launch VDJ and use it (in ASIO mode ) for a while. Then, raise or lower the ASIO Buffer Size until you find the correct setting for your computer (there are no "ideal" since no computer are alike).

I'm having a similar problem. When I adjust my buffer to 10ms then launch vdj version 6 I get stuttering playback only when using turntables, and my asio adjustments are all grey'd out cant adjust anymore unless I close vdj. Getting frustrated. Can anyone help.

This is perfectly normal. The ASIO settings needs to be configured before launching VDJ.
You will need to lower or rise the buffer size a bit until you find the setting that works best for your computer when using timecode. As I said previously, there are no ideals.

I have tried 4ms all the way to 21ms, still stuttering but not as bad at 4ms. It actually played almost perfect for about 1 minute then got really bad again. can anyone tell me how my performance tab should be configured in vdj.

Could you be a little clearer about exactly what doesn't work ?
When using the audio configuration mentioned previously:
- Input : None
- Output(s): Headphone > Master Chan1/2 / headphone Chan3/4
-Soundcard: DJ Console Rmx
Are your speakers and headphone connected to the Rmx?
BTW, you should add your VDJ serial number in you profile. This would allow you to obtain the latest update..
