Sujet: Audio differences between 2 laptops

Ce topic est ancien et peut contenir des informations obselètes ou incorrectes.

I was running 2 of my laptops last night doing some experimenting on some different problems I was having. I noticed that my HP laptop audio was louder and sounded better than my Asus laptop. I looked and made sure that volumes were both turned up omn both laptops, and changed out the audio wires to my mixer to make sure they were not bad. Is this because of the internal soundcards on the laptops? Is there any way to correct this and make the Asus laptop sound better?

HP ZD8000
Win XP SP3
Pentium IV HT 3.8ghz
1.00 GB RAM

Asus GX60
Win 7 64 bit
Intel Dual core 2.23ghz
4.00 GB RAM

What are the specs of the soundcards, as opposed to the laptops...?

Also, do the soundcards allow you to differentiate between lineout and headphone?

Cheers,
Roy

I'm gonna check out the specs on the soundcards.

If I use an external usb souncard will that make a diff? I'm sure it will.

Different soundcards have different characteristics.

I would recommend against using an onboard soundcard personally anyway.

The Asus is a better computer but windows 7 64 bit has to go. If you could install XP, then it would sound like the HP. XP runs faster and its very low in latecity and thats probably why it sounds better. Better drivers, etc

I'm regreting the win 7 64 bit. I've had nothing but trouble with it. its mainly the 64 bit I think. Is there a way to install xp on it? I was gonna try upgrading to win 7 pro and run in xp compatibilty mode but I was told it would make no difference.

You can buy a fresh copy of XP pro at Amazon.com for cheap. probably like 70 bucks

cool. thanks
