Sujet: error in the video driver message? - Page: 2

Ce topic est ancien et peut contenir des informations obselètes ou incorrectes.

If I play an mpg4 in wmp, it automatically plays the video full screen over my second monitor. Works fine. No skips, burps, nothing. Now when I go to open a regular mpeg file it cannot find the video codec (error) and just plays the audio part. I cannot play the vob with wmp. BYW, I downloaded k-lite package (smallest).

Using VDJ, if I deselect hardware acceleration the video plays on my second monitor but a bit jumpy, not real smooth. It also plays fine on my lappy monitor. If I select hardware acceleration then the video goes full screen on my lappy and I cannot get rid of it. I have to F8 to close out second monitor.

?? already confused.. sorry

I've never had W.M.P. automatically play a video full screen on my second monitor.. I've always had to drag it over to the second screen and then switch it too full screen..

ok.. thats def. something fracked up.. WMP plays mpeg2 files using its included codecs, only mp4 does it need extra codecs..

did you do this from the start? I would have to check.. but I dont think you need to do this in most cases for VDJ.. (I think VDJ installs most of the needed codecs)

depending on what types of video you use, you may have to download the DIVX player codec, and maybe the Quicktime player..

Also, some of those k-lite codec packages came with viruses.. (depending on where you got it from)

UPDATE - I found a video driver that seems to work. 3 days and countless hours, and countless downloads. I'm gonna give this a good run.
This is the version info...

Title : Video:nVidia GeForce FX Go5200 Driver
Version : A00
OEM Name : nVidia
OEM Ver : 6.14.10.4581a
Computers : Inspiron - 8600
OS : Windows XP
Languages : Brazilian Portuguese, Chinese-S, English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Spanish

I tried versions A03, A04, A05 - none worked without issues.

I'm running VDJ 6.0.1 using both decks running a mixture of vob, mpeg4, and mpeg2 for about half hour with no glitches in videos or freezes when loading. I think I'll let it run now for 24 hours on automix. Windows media play will not find codec for mpeg 2 but it plays mpeg4 fine.

It's been over 24 hours now running on automix with just an extra loaded into deck 2 (not sure if that makes a dif. or not). I automixed an extreme pile of vob's, mpeg1, mpeg2, divx, mpeg4. No lines in video output or jerkiness. Lips still in sync with song. So, must have been a driver issue (fingers crossed). Next will be to install rmx then firetext. Will run another multiple hours with that setup.

So, there is a bios update flash on dell. Should I do this or not mess with something not broken?

1.) really good news!! woohoo!

2.) I've personally have never updated a desktop BIOS, if it doesnt give you added functionality or specifically says it will fix a problem you have, my opinion is leave it alone ;-)

(I did update my old laptop BIOS, but that was to fix a specific issue with the infrared port)

Thanks hippydog. I dont think i'll try to fix it. lol.

Ok, today I installed rmx and certain vob files are acting up on the top and bottom of the video in my preview screen and my output tv. I uninstalled rmx and did a search for hercules and rmx and deleated anything that was not uninstalled. It still acts up on video. If I close the external tv and play on small screen on lappy all is fine. I also installed some of the videos on my internal dh and it acts the same so it cannot be my external hd's. Mpeg2 and mpeg4's play fine with external tv.

Not sure if this is related but I still cannot play vob's or mpeg 2's with windows media player. I get errror downloading codec's and I have the internet connected.

Yesterday I played all types of video files for over 24 hours and all went fine with automix. Today I tried automix and have the above mentioned video problems.

Doc, I'm sorry if this has been asked, do you have another machine you can test on? I'm starting to wonder if maybe its something going on with that particular PC.

What I did was try the same external hd and videos on another lappy and worked fine. Also what i did was restore my orig. lappy to before installing rmx. I then re-installed the video driver that worked. Now still no luck with vob files, it only plays the first one fine. Mpeg4, mpeg1, mpeg2 play fine. Like white horizontal lines across bottom and sometimes across the top.

I'm now going to install rmx on the other faster lappy and see what happens.

It gave me problems installing. Lappy would'nt find rmx but finally installed. Seems to be working fine. I guess it is time to upgrade that other lappy.
