It looks like an electric issue, either a difference of potential between 2 devices you touch at the same time, or an electrostatic discharge.

1) If the issue is problem of difference of potentials between 2 gears.

If the issue happens when you touch another electric device at the same time as the Rmx (as a mixing table, an amplifier (or heaphones or a microphone plugged to an amplifier), amplified speakers, ), it is not an electro-static problem: it is a problem of difference of potential between the Rmx and the other device, which probably meansthe connection to the ground doesn't work (it means the ground of the computer and the ground of the other electric device are not at the same potential), so a short term solution is to plug the computer and the other device (the device you touch at the same time when you get the discharge generated by the difference of potential) on the same power supply, and a long term solution is to ask an electrician to check your electric network.

2) If the origin of your problem is an electrostatic discharge

It is probably electrostatic discharge if the issue happens always when you put the hand on the DJ Console Rmx, and a way to prevent is would be to
- remove the screw holding the aluminum plate to the console on rear panel close to the USB plug,
- wind a thin metal cable (as a copper cable) around the screw
- fix the screw again,
- wind the other end of the copper cable around the input 1-2 ground screw.

I had this happen to me 2 weeks ago as well. I was wearing a sweatshirt and pulled it off, went to touch the cue button and zapped the RMX, which then set off a crazy loop and it wouldnt respond. (All in the middle of a gig mind you) I just reboot everything, made a funny comment over the mic and went on my business.

From then on, I have my keys hanging out of my pocket and touch them everyso often to discharge any static I may have build.

thanks guys....i tried calling the hercules tech support over at france, they suggested i do a fresh installation of the rmx firmware...they said it was not properly installed...iv done that...but im going to do what phatso suggested (winding a thin cable to the back of the rmx)...cos i dont think they put the screws there for nothing so its gotta to be put to use...ill do that and hopefully all goes well...thanks guys, you are appreciated.

....guys thanks a lot for your help...but i have a quick question here...how can i test to find out if there are no more electrostatic discharges on my rmx again....is there any way to test and know for sure....cos pretty much its been stable now...but i just wanna make sure for real that it is gone...maybe a kind of test or something....thank you all a great deal.

Rub your feet on the carpet with tennnis shoes on and then touch your RMX. Just like when you shock someone ;o) If it doesn't do it anymore you're probably alright.
