When I record video's.....the output quality [avi] is poor. How do I record video's to get a good quality [avi] output?

what format are the videos before you "record" to avi?

I think this is not what he want's to know. He want to record a live mix he did with VDJ. This is normaly recorded as AVI to the harddisc.
