Sujet: sound distortion and TT speeds

Ce topic est ancien et peut contenir des informations obselètes ou incorrectes.

what up homies?

so heres my newest frustration. with my second attempt on a pci setup of a maya 44 ive hit a few snags. "again"

my sound is constantly distorted kind of a scratchy hiss sort of sound. it is coming from both decks and i cant work out whats causing it. ive tweaked and twiddled with all my might but cant seem to get rid of it permanently. it has been coming and going whilst ive been tweaking but im just not getting something right.

the other problem im now having, is the TT's seem to be running at different speeds. although both are set to 33rpm one track in vdj runns faster than the other. any ideas on this?

ive read a few guides to TC setup with the maya44 but none of them have been any use to my problems. please can someone help?

ok ive sorted the speed problem, the pitch on my left tt was minimised. so now all i need is the sound dostortion sorting.

althought the tt's are still running slightly out of sync, but i think the pitch controlls will solve that, if not im going to start using my direct drive soundlab TT's instead of my belt drive gemini's. will this help do you think?

Hi blu

The DD turntables should be less likely to drift. The motors are usualy Quartz controlled so as long as both TT's have been set up correctly by the manufacturer (Not always the case with Soundlab) you should find that they are more stable or at least better matched to each other.

thanks Daz, any views on the sound distortion? im going to change the TT's in a couple of days once i get some phono connectors. maybe swapping out the TT's will sort all my problems in one fell swoop.

Hi mate

you might want to check and make sure that the decks don't have a built in pre amp. Some decks have a switch under the platter or on the back panel to select between phono and line level. If it has this and its selected to line when the sound card is set to recieve a phono level signal it can cause problems.

Just a thought

nope. not there, theres just a voltage selector.
