but not now its still Yong same as sata 3.0
sata 3.0 will be 6 gbps

WOW, just when the external drive cases finally started getting esata connections in them......now I will want to upgrade all my external drives! I guess I now have 22 usb 2.0 external hard drive cases available for purchase at a great price if anyone is interested :)

USB 3.0 is too new right now, not alot o hardwere supports it yet. THe best option is to skip it now and wait few years, till some of the problems get worked out and more hardware starts to support it. Same with SATA 6GHZ

if youre going to make an early jump to USB3, i would recomend a SATA3 capable harddive, and a SATA3 to USB3 caddy.
But in real terms, there is no speed gain just yet versus a SATA2 harddrive connected internaly to your motherboard.
Its another wait and see from me, im afraid to say..

New technology for the new solid state hard drives i guess. I saw a 500gig sshd cost around $2k... ridiculous

Works great for me i have a Buffalo DriveStation USB 3.0 1 TB External hard drive and everything working sweet.
Although i had to upgrade my motherboard in my computer to a usb 3.0 compatible motherboard.
