Sujet: iMac + Pioneer CDJ-400 VDJ Soundcard Configuration

Ce topic est ancien et peut contenir des informations obselètes ou incorrectes.

OK so I have a new big iMac. I got VDJ working on it and it sounds good. The only problem is there is only one soundcard working on both channels. Like on my PC the "2 Soundcard" option has "CDJ-400 1" (left deck) and "CDJ-400 2" (right deck) and I get two separate channels that I can properly crossfade. Or I can use ASIO.

On my new iMac the "2 Soundcard" option shows two separate "CDJ-400" cards but they are not numbered like on my PC so they are one and the same and both decks play on one side.

What am I doing wrong? With PC I am extremely proficient at trouble shooting and help others but with this Mac it is all foreign to me.

Do I need to download something else?

Thanx,

You'll have to go to OS X's audio/midi-settings and create a aggregate sound device, which is kinda "virtual sound card" which includes both CDJ-400's...same concept as if you would have one sound card that has multiple output channels. Then in Virtual DJ you will select this aggregate device as you sound card.

This guide might not be 100% accurate, since I haven't actually ever have to do it myself. I've just winging it based on what I recall reading on the forum.

UPDATE: I returned the iMac and paid $1000 more :( and bought a MacBook Pro but I'm having the same issues...

Thanks Phatso but that is how you set up Traktor. VDJ requires Core Audio drivers which is similar to ASIO for PC. I do not know how or where to find these drivers or how and where to find then once they are installed on my MAC...

Core Audio (as the name implies) manages all audio on OS X, so you don't have to install anything, everything is already there for you to play with.

The link explains the procedure mentioned by AuralCandy to create "1 sound device" out of two (or more), and once this is done, the audio configuration should be about same for VDJ and Traktor.

Rude check out the article I did on the VDJ mag that goes into detail about the mac sound card setup.

To elaborate even more what DJ Phatso already said...

CoreAudio is the built-in audio-stack of the operating system, a bit like DirectSound on Windows. But what's cool about CoreAudio, is that if your sound card is CoreAudio-compatible you don't have to install any drivers - it's literally plug & play. For a someone used to Windows, this is something so cool it's even hard to grasp at first how effortless it is :)

Take my Edirol FA-66 for example. I'll just plug in the firewire-cable, turn on the power and in seconds the device is ready to be used with iTunes, VDJ, etc. etc.

But in your case you'll have to virtually combine the devices into an aggregate device. The procedure is the same for VDJ, Traktor or whatever. The whole aggregate device ordeal is not VDJ-specific.

Thanx Cyder, Phatso & Aural. When I get back home today I'll try everything all over again... Lovin' the Mac though, I bought a Mini-display port
to DVI cable, then connect it to my DVI to HDMI adapter for my screens, my biggest worry with going Mac was no HDMI output but I got it all dialed in and it works as good as my PC laptop!

good to hear, the mini display port was my only reservation on buying a new mac.

If you happen to experience difficulties using the native resolution of your LCD panel when connected to Mac, try a handy utility called SwitchResX. It allows you to tweak the resolutions, frequencies etc.

Hey i tried to do what Phatso said, but it still says error with audio core or something like that. I normally dj with 2 cdj 400 and a djm 400 but i was curios about connecting my cdjs and my djm to this program.. i did everything but it still doesnt work.. can anyobdy help me maybe with a step-by-step?
