Hello folks,
I have 3 issues that are seriously driving me nuts. I do love the software, and I have broken down and bought lots of fun hardware for it.
Hercules RMX
a UC-33e, and I use a Mackie vlz3 as my mixer, with a Pre-USB M-audio as well as other components.
my first issues...
1 - Sometimes, and I can't find out for the life of me why, when I load in a new song, all the sudden there is a distortion when I move any of the faders, or knobs. It drives me nuts... I know I am running a high end laptop with vdj. (Asus G70 series that set me back about 3500USD)
It goes away on it's own but then comes back, and yes the listeners can hear the noise when I transition. (sighs)
2 - This happened more recently and only seems to happen when I am streaming live online. When I start using effects, the software goes into this huge delay, and I lose total control of the VDJ interface. The windows OS is fine, I can do anything else, and the software doesn't actually stop running, but it totally locks me out of doing anything on it, and I actually have to crash my software and restart.. sighs embarrassing, when you have a live crowd listening.
3 - I may have this one figured out by disabling the check box in the sound setup which lets the RMX or the software itself use the eq. but what would happen is if I start using lot's of samples, or just sometimes switching songs, I'd hear distortion in my headphones. The main out's were just fine, but the headphones themselves were distorted which makes for extremely difficult mixing. I thought it was the headphones themselves perhaps, but when I restarted the software, all is well again until I tried using lots of samples again.
I know there can be 1000 of reasons why these could be happening, but I am hoping someone else has a good place to start.

All three of those sound related to me.
I would say your setup in the performance tab is incorrect for your machine - probably too low a latency. Bear in mind that a fast PC specification doesn't necessarily mean it can run low latencies well; there are many many factors to this.
Please post up a screen shot (or complete textual description) of the following windows:
Sound Setup
Performance
Also do you run with keylock (or master tempo) on?

Thank you for the response back, and yes I understand and agree that the power of the laptop hardware isn't the end all. I was just pointing out that the laptop is above and beyond the min. system reqs. and I don't think the problems are related to anything such as low system reqs. when running the software.
Here is my settings in the sound setup.
Inputs are set to none
Outputs are set to headphones - Master Chan 1&2/Headphones Chan3&4
Sound card - DJ console RMX (Apply eq on external inputs is checked off)
Performances
Presets are set one notch to the right on the slider
Sound card
Latency - Auto
safe Mode (checked)
overclock (checked)
Scratch
Optimize for quality vs latency
Enhanced Algorithm is set with filter size 11 and filter smooth unchecked
48hz <-> 44hz
lowpass filter is set on radio button
filter taps 11
filter smooth unchecked
Master Tempo
set to fast (not advanced)
I don't see a mention in the software for key lock or master tempo other then what I just posted on here.
Thank you again for help, I really appreciate it and am so willing to learn all about this, and more.

No, but problems can be caused by driver and BIOS coding - they can have a massive impact on the real-time abilities of a machines I/O.

If you untick safe mode in the performance tab does the problem go away?

Actually, what I have done is downloaded the newest trial version of pro 6.07 and reloaded all my Hercules RMX drivers.(up to date)
I'll make the full purchase of pro here in the next few days =)
I found out the LFO filters I had downloaded were what were causing my interface to lock up, while streaming live. So I have taken that out of the equation which kinda sucks because I like those LFO filters.
I ran my gear pretty hard last night for a 2 hour live session and it only bonked out on me once, which was mostly my fault I believe because I was doing a lot of dragging and dropping from the file folders themselves in windows vs using VDJs file folder system.
Which does bring me to the question, how much better is it to load the files into VDJ first with its virtual directories vs just dragging say an open folder in windows with the music and playing from it? Is there a big resource issue with it? Is it better to use one or the other? or more personal preference.
What happened to me last night was, I was playing a song on deck 1, then when I dragged a file from the windows file folder into deck 2, it just said error on the deck, and it didn't matter what song I loaded in after that it continued to just error. Then once deck 1 finished playing it also gave me error when dragging songs on to it. I had to restart VDJ to remedy the issue, and of course it had to be on the last song of the night... sighs. Anyway....
I am going to post another notice here soon about some new gear I want to invest in.
IE: new decks, mixers and effects processors, and what people may suggest and any ideas on what others use.
The hercules RMX is a great start, but I am ready to move up and on now.
I basically want to pull myself off the laptop as much as possible and just use hardware interfaces for the mixing, effects, samples, etc... and just use VDJ as the visual interface only. I must admit I have gotten spoiled with the wave tables and beat matching syncing that the software allows. VDJ has really come a long way and I am hoping it becomes more and more the industry standard vs traktor and serato.
Thank you again for your help =)
