Hello everyone. I am looking into VDJ Pro strictly for mixing music videos. I am currently using Pioneer's DVJ-X1's and love them. However, I would like to incorporate a laptop & timecode CD's so I could mix off the laptop without constantly ejecting/changing DVD's all night. I figure this way if there is a computer "glitch" I can jump back to the DVJ's while the laptop re-boots.
My questions before I jump into VDJ Pro...Is there a mixer (like the Rane TTM-57SL for Serato), that will control VDJ Pro via controls on the mixer? Also, what external sound card is recommended for audio & video out of the laptop?
Thanks in advance!

You will need a MIDI capable mixer such as Pioneer DJM-700 or DJM-800, as well as a MIDI interface to connect it to your computer.
Alternatively you could add a MIDI controller with a crossfader such as Novation Nocturn and use this in conjunction with your current audio mixer.
For timecode, you will need a 4-in/4-out ASIO sound card such as Hercules DJ Trim, Native Instruments Audio 4 DJ, ESI Maya44 USB or Native Instruments Audio 8 DJ has a built-in MIDI interface.
Rane TTM-57SL cannot be used to control the software because it unfortunately uses a proprietary protocol that's locked to Serato only. It also cannot be used for timecode (The inputs on the sound card are disabled for all software except Serato.)

I use a Korg Zero4 mixer. It controls the software perfectly. Move the crossfader and both the video and audio transition (you can separate them too). It has a built in sound card so there are no additional purchases.
I suggest you use a MIDI mixer like the one I mentioned. I have heard a lot of DJs complain about having to move two crossfaders when doing video and it being a P.I.T.A.

Thanks for the information guys. If I go with the Pioneer DJM-800 will I be able to control both audio & video transitions at the same time with the single crossfader as mentioned with the Korg? Also, for using timecode CD's with the 800 will I need the additional external sound card? (As you say the Korg has a everything built in).
Thanks!
Thanks!
