Sujet: "evening" a mix in Audacity

Ce topic est ancien et peut contenir des informations obselètes ou incorrectes.

i made a mix a few days ago, but the sound levels are all over the place. Anyone know how to "even" the levels in audacity?

Not sure, but before adding them in Audacity you could run your MP3's through MP3Gain and that will set them all within a 1.5db range.

did that already...listening back to it now.....will see what it do

Hmm, glad you mentioned the normalization, i always brought my mixes into audacity, and the areas that looked too low I would manually "gain" those areas. Came out perfect, but took forever.

I'll try the normalize method next mix I do

Beat me to it JamesWjRose! I've been thinking about recording a set or two while I work, thanks for the kick in the arse, dj rsenal! I haven't used audacity in a while, I have adobe audition, but it's the same thing.

rsenal how do you record, is it through the record outs of your mixer? another way to get a great sound while recording live dj sets is to:

1 use the autogain on the software, and
2 when you are mixing your set, make sure the channels are "normalized". if you have PFL's (pre fader levels) on your mixer, make sure the channels you use are equal, volume-wise. For example I have the Denon x-500 mixer. I make sure my channels are set so that when I cue a channel, the LED goes no higher than +1db. I then turn my individual channel volume slider up all the way. Now, if both channels are "equal" and both sliders are up all the way you should get an even sound volume-wise from both channels. Comes in handy when recording...

just my 2cents
