Man do you want punishment on your system or what??
If you think the process power for just playing simple videos are bad, wait till you include recording to video. Hope you have $$$.

Well, cstoll is sooo right ;)
If you wan't to record it, get a card with tv-out and record it with another computer or with the old-but-still-good VCR :)

How feasible it is depends:
If you have dual core or dual processor cpu - encoding the video on fly should be doable.
If you do not have such, but you have a empty HDD plugged in (for laptop a portable USB hdd for example) - then you could record uncompressed/"raw" avi to this empty hdd and then later compress it. This really requires little CPU so that's no problem.

This would be a very useful feature. I agree though, it would not be wise to try to record video live while doing a gig... Being able to record a mix beforehand and playing it though would be helpful though.

If for playback, then how about having a feature that just records the control signals and can then reproduce the video (or audio only) mix on demand? using the original media, etc. Kinda like a trainable autopilot.
