I am interested in buying a MEP7000 or at least the head unit part (SEP-C1) to control VDJ.
The MEP7000 has built in sound effects, are these effects fully functional when only using the head unit (SEP-C1) with VJD, or do they only work when running through the internal sound card in the base unit?
Any other practical advise about this unit (or the Denon HC-4500) would be great!
Many thanks all
Gary

Hi Gary,
Not sure about the effects, I would (logically) guess they will only work with the full unit (MEP-7000) and only on the CD playback. VDJ has it's own effects which are triggered from within the program.
I too looked at the SEP-C1 (or MEP) but the UK prices are way over the top. The MEP also has a critical bug where it still sends midi signals to VDJ during CD playback and this has still not been addressed by Pioneer. The SEP-C1 also has no built in sound card, so you're paying over £600 for a pretty looking controller that's less functional than the HC-4500. The whole MEP with the controller is quite big and heavy if you will be moving it between gigs.
The HC-4500 on the other hand is superb. I have had one for over 2 years and it's been faultless. There is basic mapping built in to VDJ but you can do so much more with VDJ scripting. I got some help from Jon on the forum and I spent quite a while modifying the mapping to suit my requirements and it's brilliant. There is a learning curve if you want to do advanced scripts but the basic stuff like reassigning a button is real easy.
See this post on the MEP: http://www.virtualdj.com/forums/126009/Hardware_Technical_Support/Slight_issue_with_MEP_7000___VDJ.html?search=mep&page=1
HC-4500 price is now reduced here: http://www.djstore.com/item/dendnhc4500.htm

Hello I use the controller in September from a year-c1 (looks not blog about the quote) is really a feast it responds to the needs and Tathagata, it is possible to coat its suitability for certain functions.
I use it with an external sound card but it has a really great touch

Not since the virtual dj mapper does not use all the functions
it is possible for the mappers or other effects (the search button pieces I used it to map ais cross fader) for example

Thank you all for your comments.
As I suspected then, it is purely going to be a midi type controller that will only send control codes to VDJ if used without the CD unit.
As this is the case how programmable are the buttons, I assume you can fully program the function buttons under the screen; ie. press effects and then a function button to control VDJ's own effects/samples etc.?
Many thanks again
