Okay this is going to be a dum question fro a total noobie :)
Is there a control with VDJ that allows you to mute the mic while the tracks are playing or does that have to be done via the standard windows record sound card control?
Thanks in advance and sorry for the basic question

Hercule DJConsole RMX has this option. You can mute from 0 to -9db to speak on your mic and release the mic button for getting the music back again.

Some custom skins such as MixLab have a microphone volume control slider: http://www.virtualdj.com/addons/skins.html
Or you can map a keyboard or MIDI shortcut to do this, e.g:
mic_volume 0% ? mic_volume 100% : mic_volume 0%
