Are all the DJs using midi, usb, etc. Where are all the turntablists?, are they at a different software site or they all using midi, usb, etc nowadays.Almost every topic in the forum is about controllers, etc. I own 2 denon 3700 and i am very impress with VDJ 6.08,its like a bomb everywhere I played, but sometimes I like to play my technics 1200mk2 but I hate the scratch sound and slight drift.I think the best VDJ for timecode was VDJ5.02 after that i dont know. The new VDJ has alot of improvements but maybe the moderators are leaving the turntablist to other software.

whats up dj raymond I to still use v5.2.1 and I also use denon 3700 and technics 1200mk2 with the timecode.
Yes the new VDJ adds a lot of new controllers. But there are still a lot of us here that still play with cdj , denons
and 1200's so don't feel bad we are still here.

I use my Stanton str8 60 from time to time. I use them via the Virtual Vinyl interface, or before, I sued the torq interface with Virtual Dj, but now I'm going to start using them again with the American Audio Versaport.

@ Ghetto Tech. I think DJ raymond is talking about the ones who are using turntables & not just turntablist.
Nice setup audio. It looks like mine except for the mixer. Mp3's are being used by most djs & Many Clubs djs preffer to use either Technics 1200s or CDJ's thru timecodes. Very few DJ's using a Denon Hc4500 in Midi mode and very rare to see other djs using cds.

Old style club rotary mixer, real old skool. Most of us who have been mixing for 25+ years started on something similar to that.....

ghettotech I don't understand I play with my 1200s all the time with this mixer. Do you mean
how do i scratch with this mixer(im not a scratch dj). If you look real good you will see a crossfader
at the top.
TearEmUp I see I told my age. This is my home setup. I am a rotary mixer man. Here in Chicago most
of the clubs have the Rane rotary mixer and cdj.
Caliente Thanks man you know we love are 3700s

The Denon 3700's rock. Djs come to my house to spin and make cds because they like the way the decks feel.

SL-1210s are the only tools i need. I've NEVER played a CD on a gig.

tunrtables for work midi for messing around at home, must say im liking the look of the vms4, when it comes out i might be converted! dont forget on the latest version of vdj you can select the old time code engines if you prefered them (think v4 was used for version 5.xx of the software)

The denon 3700 are the closest thing to turntable, ever since I bought mine I rarely use my Technics Turntable, but the feel and joy being around a 1200 TT makes you feel like you're dancing in the party.I would love to see three big DJs at atlantic city this year spinning three different DJ software.Guess what I am going to miss the show again this year, funds are low and I cant get a sponsor for my ticket.VDJ for life

For the record, "turntablist" is a strong word for what the majority of DJs who use timecode vinyl. Personally, even though I use turntables, I consider myself a "scratch DJ" rather than a turntablist. I can scratch pretty well and rock doubles but I can't pull off real beat juggling to save my life. Just because a DJ uses turntables doesn't make him/her a "turntablist". I understand the point of the original post but thought I should clarify the definition...
"Turntablism is the art of manipulating sounds and creating music using phonograph turntables or digital turntables and a DJ mixer. The word 'turntablist' was coined in 1995 by DJ Babu to describe the difference between a DJ who just plays records, and one who performs by touching and moving the records, stylus and mixer to manipulate sound. The new term co-occurred with a resurgence of the art of hip hop style DJing in the 1990s.
John Oswald described the art: "A phonograph in the hands of a 'hiphop/scratch' artist who plays a record like an electronic washboard with a phonographic needle as a plectrum, produces sounds which are unique and not reproduced -- the record player becomes a musical instrument."[2]
Hip-hop turntablist DJs use turntable techniques like beat mixing/matching, scratching, and beat juggling. Some turntablists seek to have themselves recognized as legitimate musicians capable of interacting and improvising with other performers. Some focus on turntable technique while others craft intricate compositions by focusing on mixing."

ok, ok. so why are we all being so snobby about Midi controllers!!! Isn't it a case ov "one big happy family". I wonder if the users ov wax cylinders were all snooty about the introduction ov Shellac Disks and 78's!!!
i use my RMX in clubs and as long as the music is good, who cares what system i am using!!! Its horses for courses as far as i can see.
New stuff comes out and is adopted by the up-and-commers. Thats just the way it is. it doesn't mean Midi's are better than CD's and CD's better than Records, they just different.
In a few years there will be a new thing and we can all be snooty about that one...
Big Love to ALL the family.
its good to be different, its what makes this life such a rich tappestry!!!
One Love, ONE FAMILY.
