Hello everyone!
I have a question - right now I'm using a Hercules RMX with my VDJ Pro, and it's working well, but I would like to switch to 2 decks with timecode vynils. My question would be, how can I go about doing this?
Can I use the Hercules RMX as the mixer and sound card, and have the vynil players interface and essentially replace the jogwheel function on the RMX, so I can have the vynils going, yet still sync and beatmatch via VDJ, and have all the other functions (use VDJ sampler and effects).
If someone could help me with this, it would be much appreciated :)
Greetz!

Everything you want to do...you can do. I use a timecode and RMX setup and love it. The RMX works as a controller/mixer/soundcard and the tables work like....well...tables. You get the best of both worlds, the feel of vinyl and control of vinyl with the versatility of digital.

That is great news! Right now I am looking at decks, what would you suggest? I'm a bit low on a budget, so I'm thinking of using these:

Would these work, and if they did, how would I go about setup?
thanks!

honestly I would avoid belt drive tables as much as possible. I would suggest a direct drive table of some sort. I use Technics SL-1200's and you can actually find them pretty cheap on craigslist nowadays but just about any direct drive will work (different brands have different torque ratings so you might want to try them out somewhere and see what you like best). After you decide on a deck you need to get yourself a GOOD set of cartridges/styli. I would recommend the Shure M44-7 or M44G carts. Great output and not really that expensive as far as carts are concerned (M44-7 is the highest output, I use M44G's myself and am very happy with them).
So again, a decent set of DIRECT DRIVE tables, and a GOOD set of cartridges should be your main focus. I would suggest craigslist as a good place to look for tables, and the Shure carts you could buy brand new being as they aren't crazy priced like some Ortofon carts out there. I hope that helped you out some, if you have any other questions feel free to ask.
