Sujet: Unsure how to key detect

Ce topic est ancien et peut contenir des informations obselètes ou incorrectes.

I've tried through the bpm analysis (right click track > bpm > analyze other music) and it gives me the bpm's but no key. Do I need a separate program?

I have version 5 rev 6 running on windows 7... Also the library I'm accessing is my itunes folder, maybe this effects it?

When I right click the track in my music folder I get these options:

preview
file infos
bpm > analyze other or techno/house or manual edit
file operations
remove from search DB

Any help would be much appreciated as I would like to try and mix harmonically

Go to the title bar in the browser. Right click and it will give you a drop window.
Then just check next to the key, and it will show up.

I've got the category open but there's still no key's detected for any tracks.

as soon as you load a track or you press to search for bpm it will show key too.

That's the problem. It's not giving me a key.

It should be showing you something like this:

...and that highlights another problem.

Why does VDJ show every song as being in a minor key?

Some songs are in major keys!

Yeh, everything is setup the same BUT no key given where yours are :P would a screenshot of mine help? it's basically the same but no key

hello,
same version and problem. i'm on vista. i tried the solution here. no love.

by the way appreciate the responses, this has been frustrating... anyone know of a program that can determine song keys? maybe I just need to use an outside source.

i've tried beatunes and media monkey. i had better success with beatunes as it analyzes EVERYTHING and cross references with an online database. it even color codes the songs. vdj doesn't seem to support any of the imported data, however.

I wouldn't worry about not being able to see it. It's absolutely useless. It thinks everything is in minor. They should take it out and stop wasting screen space until they work out how to build it properly. Mixed In Key is much better but, as far as I'm aware, doesn't plug into VDJ so you have to analyse your tunes outside and then go back into VDJ.
