Sujet: RMX controller and microphone question

Ce topic est ancien et peut contenir des informations obselètes ou incorrectes.

My RMX is great with my wireless set-up
I purchased an inexpensive Shure PG58 mic as a back up, it came with XLR-XLR cable which the rmx can't use so they gave me a XLR-1/4" cable instead.
The shure is very very low in volume in either jack.
Any idea's ??

The RMX is just a midi controller, you need to use it in conjunction with a traditional analogue mixer, obviously the mic will sound fine plugged into a proper mixer.

I just got a RMX, and you should be able to use a Mic with it. It has mixer capability. I will do some testing on my own, but you may want to check here. Guitar Center will also be able to help you with a Direct Box, (balanced XLR input to a unbalanced 1/4 inch out).

The RMX mic inputs are...for lack of a better term...crap. You need a low impedance mic (I have a Behringer XM8500 that works pretty good with it) but for most people they end up having to get an external mic controller to use with the RMX.

You mean the other way around?
If a (balanced) mic is connected to an unbalanced input, MrMtnbk1's cable is a good solution. There's no need to convert it to unbalanced with a DI-box.
But if you need to change an unbalanced signal (ie a guitar or another instrument) a DI-box is highly recommended. In this case you can spend the money on some new songs ;)

I tried a unbalanced and a balanced 1/4" connector and the volume is still 10% of the output with my wireless unit.

Have you tried running the RMX off a line on a normal mixer and then using your mic with the normal mixer? it's how everybody else does it.

I did run the RMX as a mixer on it's own once but had to put a 3500 watt amp behind it to drive my 8 ohm speakers. At the end of the day it's a midi controller, there is no pre amp's in it!!

Hey good people,
I was having the same mic issues, I purchased the small Behringer Xenyx 2 channel external mixer, about $50, problem solved, mic is loud and clear, and I use it with my wireless set up. Best solution for my issues!

That's the way it is, what I've been saying all along!!! I give up

we all gave that answer a year ago lol. that is the only soloution

Dont know why they did'nt put a top mounted XLR plug on it either.got a Boom mic that would give me "No hands" action. and i have a "no name" wireless mic that would get rid of the "clutter", and a ELECTRO VOICE (dont remember the model but its the same one News casters used on TV,got at the Flea Market for 5$ LoL !!) that have the BEST Sound but I have to dig it up and try it...

I have the RMX and I also have an Audix OM2 it works fine, loud enough even for a Dance Hall Reggae crowd. You may also want to go into the hercules software and select mic as an input that helps aswell. Hercules does have do to a bit better with the audio tho. Luckily enough VDJ 7 will also have a mic control and effects send! :) I love this program.

You have to remember the RMX is just a 5.1 surrond card not a mixer. Putting a balanced XLR socket on it would make no difference whatsoever - It's not a mixer (I think I said that already!)

Cheers,

Roy

I finally got a $15 hi imp adp and all is fine
