Hey guys,

Came across this denon controller and saw that its bundled with VDJ software as well. I think its scheduled for release in late september/october. It looks really impressive. Was thinking of getting the VMS4, but now I'm thinking of just waiting out for this one. Would really love to see some videos on it so if anyone knows of any please do point me to it.

How can it be old news when it hasn't even been released yet?

Saw this in AC last week and was quite impressed with it, definitely on my list for December when it does get released.
 
 
Oh. Whoops. I tried searching the forums for a topic on it but couldnt find any. Decided to start my own. Oh well. Glad to see a discussion has already started. Cant wait for its release. OH Btw. I heard that it ships to europe/asia with traktor instead of VDJ. Does this just mean that the software they provide will be traktor's LE? Or will the buttons and everything be labelled and mapped according to traktor? Would suck if the latters the case.
 
When its available for sale, I recomend that you physically see it. This controller is really compact and smaller than VCI 300.

The design is just one, only the bundle is different.
Keys are mapped accordingly for each app to make sense.
 
Smaller than a VCI, this was a mistake. Maybe they should do a larger version.
 
I agree with you Charlie, this is were Numark beat em all hands down. Why does everythig have to be so small? Do it over and make it with 7inch platters instead of these tiny things that only a little persons hands can get down on. Smaller isn't always better in fact this is 1 of the main reasons i have yet to go the controller route.

I need a backup rig. but I am going to let someone else experiment with these controllers before
I get it, For some reason I seem to be one of the first to try new stuff all the time
and end up with the initial head-aces... but they always tend to work out at the end.

ICDX, hated then loved it!
DN-S3700 - Same thing
Now I am on the DN-X1600

 
Small is good for people like me who move gear about between venues. Even the VMS4 was a bit on the big side.

For lovers of larger jogwheels or gear for permanent installs there is the Numark V7/X7 combo or the NS7.
 
why why why, they always Do things SO So SMALL! ""OR.... SO BIG and HEAVY CAN THEY make something between CAN THEY make something different. -v7 too heavy- piooneers to big- and the ones in the middle like cdj400 DO NOT HAVE enougf buttoms or the plates suck, denons too heavy.
 
Im right there with devasty1!!! @kradcliffe i lug around my equipment aswell! 2 1200'S, Ecler mixer, korg nanokontrol, laptop plus sound. Your argument is weak bro. I wanna know where these developers get the idea that we want everything small............maybe Cstoll can chime sense he's into hardware developement, please? And yes i know you can't speak for other company's but maybe help us understand a little more.

When Im DJ iing, I need to be comfortable. Going compact for me is carrying separate coffins for my denon 3700's or my Technics 1200s. The best compact deck i had was the Numark NS7.

If Denon, Pioneer or some other brand can design a Deck the same size as the NS7 and 8 inch platters.. It would be official.
 
Someone should draw a comparison pic where is small picture of every popular controller in correct relational size. So It would be easier to compare sizes of controllers and plates. I could draw one when I get some extra time.

For me compact controller is welcomed, I need a portable gear that fits to a backbag, and also I have small hands :D
 
what pisses me off...is that i have hercules rmx....i am looking to upgrade and dont know where to turn cause some of these controllers are so small.....and hercules seems lazy to make a upgrade to the hercules......tired of this ................
 
It's not that small. The MC6000 comes with 19"rackmounts, so it should be about 19" wide. To me that's a pretty decent size. (OK, still small jogwheels, but hey, a lot of you has been using the HC4500 without too much compains...)
 
Jogwheels unless the dj is scratching are fine being smaller imo.
The dac 2 was this way as a 2u and was the first controller many of us had.

If I had one wish of these hardware ppl. it would be to come up to speed and add a video fader, I mean really...
As more and more dj's move towards video, an optional one would be nice even if it wasn't a standard feature.
Replaceable faders is nothing new and it seems like someone would be hearing us.

Another beef of mine is the player standardization, (which Denon is a conformer to)
Some of these companies that produce control devices with extra buttons in new places or orders and jog wheels in different locations bug me.
We should be able to run these by touch and not have to look down or master the locations on each controller and many of us use more than one, so its a nuisance.
The standard should be two buttons, cue/stop and play/pause with the bend buttons under the pitch slider to the right of the jog wheel.

I was in AC for the Expo and my brother-in-law did sales at the Denon booth. This controller is definitely bigger (height and length) than the VCI-300, and substantially heavier too--I picked it up. Also, since it's bigger, it kind of feels like Denon went all out and crammed as many dials and buttons as possible onto it--it's almost too cluttered for the space. But I'm sure that once you get used to it, like any other controller, you'd be fine.

Looking forward to the hands on reviews from the eventual users.
