Hi,
i have recently purchased a new setup but cant seem to get it to work on mac. I will start by listing the setup:
-Pioneer CD-J 400 (Supported by VDJ)
-Numark ICDX (Supported)
-Allen and heath xone 42 http://www.allen-heath.com/uk/xone42.asp ( Want to use it as an external mixer)
-And i currently purchased a Gigaport HD with 8 outputs to serve the splitting needs. http://www.esi-audio.com/products/gigaporthd/
Now iv tried numerous configurations and i just cant get anything to work. For starters the decks both work independently and are recognized by the software but the tracks simply wont play, they load fine and everything. Also i dont know exactly how to configure the audio in VDJ.
Can anyone help me by telling me how my set up should be wired and what i should select in the audio and sound card menu.
Also could you explain to me what "error in coreaudio" could mean?
Sorry for the poorly written post but i would appreciate any help. Thanks

Hi
I will help you here because you will lose track of this if we move it.
In the future please post in the Mac forum for the best and fastest support.
You can also contact us in product support by clicking on the support tab on all pages of this forum.
The reason the tracks load but will not move is because the sound devices are not properly set up.
For multi channel sound support in Mac it takes a little more care in set up.
Some devices such as the Hercules Trim are automatically picked up and assigned, others need some help.
With the sound device/s connected, click on applications in the dock, should look like a folder.
Then find and click on the utilities folder there, then the midi icon (looks like a keyboard)
This will open a set up window where you will add an aggregate device by clicking on the + button at the bottom.
Your available devices should show up in the right side of this window.
On the left side select the aggregate device by card name and on the right check the cards you wish to assign.
At the bottom of the page you will see configure speakers, click this.
This will open another window, at the top click quadraphonic, this will open another window showing 4 decks with assignments 1,2,3,4 for you to assign as front or rear, default should work find and we can swap it in config/sound if its reversed.
Then close this series of windows and open vdj.
Click config/sound and in box 2 select external mixer, box 3 select aggregate device.
This should make the sound devices operational.
If they are backwards, you can swap the inputs in config/sound to the right side of the page.

Thanks for the heads up really appreciate it.
one more question though, should my set up for the aux output for my speakers be going through my mixer? or should i have it going through my interface thats connected to the PC. I was thinking i could export all audio from VDJ and feed it into my mixer without any usb connection or configuration on VDJ. Is that possible? also how would i wire that? would i want to wire separate channels for both decks ?

Unless you are using a multi channel usb interface, the headphone output would be the source patched with a 1/8" mini to rca patch cord to your mixer giving you single channel support only.
If you want functioning headphones in this case you need to use the mono split feature.
This will take the stereo output and use one channel as front/main and the other as rear/phones.
On your system there is a set up guide that will help show you the connections needed for split mono with phone use.
