Hello I have bought a new canon camcorder and want to get the video into my laptop to play the kids back dancing live. i see all the camera buttons but not open up anything. I would guess i need a webcam but would like to use my video camera. Thanks

if your camera has a small usb port like a fire wire port and you have a usb to fire wire cable you should be able to just plug it in turn your camera on and click the camera option in the video effects and you should be able to brodcast the image from the camera to the screen. Works for me anyways. But I did have image distortion on the screen though. I just figured it might be a latency issue since I have 5 usb ports being used at the same time

You need a video capture device. Get one of these, they work great.
