Sujet: My Photo Time Line Tribute to VDJ

Ce topic est ancien et peut contenir des informations obselètes ou incorrectes.

After looking through some photos I realized something. Ive come a long way and I owe it all to Virtual DJ. So here is a tribute Ive put together. A photo time line of where I started, and the progression Ive made using Virtual DJ.

December 2009: I purchased a Hercules RMX packaged with VDJ Basic. Neato! It even ran smoothly on my Dell, single core, laptop from 2005. I spent the next couple days locked away in my room. It was love, but I hungered for more! VDJ PRO was my next logical step.

January 2010: I took the plunge and purchased some turntables. At this point I had very little funds so I sprung for the cheapest ones I could find that claimed to be for DJs (Gemini TT 2000s). I also grabbed some road cases as I had every intention of transitioning out of my bedroom. In the weeks to come I would practice unrelentingly and produced my first mix tape. Sweet!

February 2010: My first house party, and a toga party at that. Game face.. check...toga.. check..VDJ...check! Before long the house was filled, bodies were bouncing and the smell of intoxicated college kids flooded the house. At the end of the night as I waded through the mess of what used to be a living room I deemed the night a success and fell asleep with a smile on my face.

April 2010: After about 2 months on the house party scene I started gaining some street credit. One night I was approached by the social chair of a local fraternity who wanted to offer me a gig. I graciously accepted and used the money, plus what I had been saving to purchase some speakers. Two Carvin 15\\\" powered mains. Now it was time to really get this show on the road!

May 2010: My first gig at a local bar for Cinco De Mayo. I cant describe the excitement I felt coming into this event. This was the break I had been looking for! I was calm, confident, and ready to rock this venue, and of course VDJ was right there by my side! As the music poured from the rooftops into the streets the bar began to fill. Before long a full blown raging party was going down in downtown Columbia, Missouri. I left the bar exhausted but once again with a smile on my face.

June-August 2010: Kept playing, Kept saving, along with working a 9-5. Took the next step in upgrading my rig and purchased two Technics 2010 Mk5\\\'s. Best decision of my life. Gained residency at the pool of my apartment complex for the summer! August rolls around and in preparation for the new school year I purchased A carvin 18\\\" Powered Subwoofer. Waamp Waamp Waamp, things were ready to blow now!!

September 2010: After passing out business cards like crazy I finally got a hit. A birthday party for a very well to do family that owns a video production studio in Columbia MO. Became a premium netsearch member, and used it live at this gig. Amazing! I was playing everything for this family from Frank Sinatra to the Beastie Boys. Made some very nice contacts, and received enough funds to purchase a backup deck/midi controller in the form of a CDJ 400.

September 23, 2010: Last night I played my first gig at a club. A mid level club in downtown Columbia. I was honored to say the least as there is absolutely no shortage of DJs in this town of 4 college campuses. This was also my first time playing on a large scale club speaker system. Time to show everyone what I'm made of! Went in to this gig being the most prepared for any gig I've ever done. Worked the crowd from 9-11pm then dropped bombs for the last hour. Complete pandemonium wall to wall on the dance floor. The night couldn't have gone better. Rocks TexZK's new sound effects all night, crowd was loving it! Thanks TexZK and Virtual DJ! As I'm carrying my cases out the door the owner approaches me and says "Nice job you sounded pretty good back there". I modestly accept the compliment and hand him my business card. High energy event, high energy crowd! At the end of the night I was drenched in sweat and deemed the night a success!

September 24 2010: Today I received A call from the Kappa social chair (who was in attendance at the club last night), and was booked for 2 gigs in OCT. After that I will have enough money for a new mixer! My setup is almost complete, and my dreams are becoming a reality. I could not have done any of this without Virtual DJ and all the help and advice I've received from users on this forum. THANK YOU ALL SOO MUCH!!!!

Brilliant post, I felt your excitement just reading it!

Looks like you've done it just the right way too, saved up and then bought exactly what you need, not gone out and blown loads on your credit card only to regret it later!

Well done. :)

Damn bro nice! You got me all teary eye'd & $hit.... lol... Seriously though, from the looks and "soundz" of thingz you've put in the work and that work is/has been starting to pay it'z dividends. You definitely had a plan and stuck to it, I wish you much success in the future!

Love the story, love the pics, love your passion for VDJ.

Experienced star well deserved.

Brilliant, I love to see people put there money where there mouths are and have the confidence to just get on with it.

Nice to see your not a stinking crack head.

My favourite part was when you bought your sub, please buy another when you can afford it and do a video.

that was kewl dude!

I'd like to point out some things that he did CORRECTLY throughout his story.

1) Bought gear and Software legally and when he could afford to.
2) Always had business cards on him to hand out when asked.
3) Prepared for his gigs: knew the crowd, knew the types of music he would need.

Pretty Good moves there.
Now if you keep it up and your rates are enough to support yourself you can ditch the 9-5 job in a couple of years. I'm getting close, it's been a long road but it's coming.

Very nice pictures LCMXr6. Glad to hear your doing well.

well chuffed for you...
