Sujet: Hmmm.. Low Latency Audio On Windows 7 & Vista..

Ce topic est ancien et peut contenir des informations obselètes ou incorrectes.

What exactly do you mean by this? Just trying to gather information about VDJ7, and if it is right for me (most likely).

Thank you very much staff and experienced users of Virtual DJ.

Da Real Deal I have a PC with Vista and A lappy with 7. By Low latency they mean minimal system resources used for music with no distortion, no audio dropouts, and clean smooth sound. I can confirm this to be the case. My Specs are beefy on both machines though.

latency is the time delay between the audio input at one

device and the audio output at another

your system may or may not use a lot of your system's cpu capacity in order

to use low latency settings

latency is cumulative every device adds a little

I know what latency is, its just that I was wondering how it was applied into Vista and 7. However, thanks for the information.

So, before VDJ was good with XP, now its a time to switch to 7, correct?

still works great on XP :)
But it has a lower latency for DirectX sound on Vista & Win7 an an option (since they support it).
But normal DirectX (XP) works fine too ;)

or you can use asio4all drivers, or your soundcards asio drivers (both low latency), working regardless of what Windows you use

I see, I'm thinking of purchasing the Audio 8 DJ, probably the best solution for 4 deck mixing, after I get VDJ7.

What would you do in my situation, DJ-in-Norway?

I am going to create a partition of XP, just for VDJ.
Or should I make a partition of 7, just for VDJ?

I am using ASIO drivers as you can see.

Thanks in advance for your input sir!!!

Personally I still use XP on my gig pc ;) guess that answers it..

but sure you can use win7 too .. doesnt really matter (as long as you stay away from Vista).

as for the Audio8 card, you dont really need 4 stereo outs to mix with 4 decks.
If you have an external mixer with 4 channels, it can be good to have such a card..
But if not, its of little use..

In VDJ you can easily use a TWO stereo out soundcard (and route 2 decks to each out), or even one stereo output soundcard, and route all decks to this output.. and mix in virtualddj

But if you have an external mixer, having 2 or 4 stereo outs is a plus

what issues are there with using vista for vdj 7.

Or problems will I encounter

My ?? Is, which is better to use. I always have it set to rmx soundcard but I have turn up amp volume to get louder sound. I noticed next to that is check box which say its for asio. Which is why I was gona connect to older mixer with eq.Would using asio give me tad bit more volume? Or is it mainly for scratch latency? I kno these are very noob questions but I'm trying to learn. Very computer illiterate. Sorry. =Daniel

What outputs on the RMX are you using?

The Best OS that can run at the Lowest latecity is XP. Its not vista or Windows 7.

1&2. Thanks for reply. I so upset. I figured out what was confusing me this whole time. It's that old stupid mixer. It's a gemsound. I think self explains. But I am curious to understand what asio is. At this point I don't even kno if its a pc component or what. I don't wanna dive into it without doing some more research. 90% believer on "if it ain't broke don't fix it". So is there some thread or website you recomend?Something in depth. Best regards. =Daniel
