Sujet: Virtual DJ 6/Hercules RMX issue

Ce topic est ancien et peut contenir des informations obselètes ou incorrectes.

So I'm going to post this on here, and see if I can get any response.

Hey guys, I am running a Hercules RMX in to Virtual DJ Pro 6 (computer specs below), and I had an issue the past 2 gigs that has never happened before. After about 4 hours of playing, the jog wheels started to not respond correctly, then the music would skip and jump ahead when I did touch the jog wheels. About a half hour later, everything just stopped. The computer didn't freeze, just VDJ, I had to completely reboot my computer and start again. Very frustrating when you have 100+ people on the dance floor at peak hour.

Any suggestions? Anyone have this problem before?

Here is my computer specs:

HP Pavilion dv7t-3300 - Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit
Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-720QM Quad Core processor (1.6GHz, 6MB L3 Cache) with Turbo Boost up to 2.8 GHz
4GB DDR3 SDRAM
500GB 7200RPM SATA Hard Drive
1GB Nvidia GeForce GT 320M - For i7 Processors

Hercules RMX with up to date firmware and drivers
Virtual DJ 6 (also up to date)

Thanks in advance for any help!

It sounds like it could be an electric issue, either a difference of potential between 2 devices you touched at the same time, or an electrostatic discharge.

1) If the issue is problem of difference of potentials between 2 gears.

If the issue happens when you touch another electric device at the same time as the Rmx (as a mixing table, an amplifier, heaphones or a microphone plugged to an amplifier), it is not an electro-static problem: it is a problem of difference of potential between the Rmx and the other device, which probably means the connection to the ground doesn't work (it means the ground of the computer and the ground of the other electric device are not at the same potential), so a short term solution is to plug the computer and the other device (the device you touch at the same time when you get the discharge generated by the difference of potential) on the same power supply, and a long term solution is to ask an electrician to check the electric network of the place.

2) If the origin of your problem is an electrostatic discharge

It is probably electrostatic discharge if the issue happens always when you put the hand on the DJ Console Rmx, and a way to prevent is would be to

- remove the screw holding the aluminum plate to the console on rear panel (close to the USB plug),
- wind a thin metal cable (as a copper cable) around the screw
- fix the screw again,
- wind the other end of the copper cable around the input 1-2 ground screw.
