Sujet: 2 Deck skin as 4 Deck skin

if its a "own" skin as in one you made i dont see why not. if you have 4 inputs then surely all you would need is to build in a switch button. so it switches inputs but uses the same skin. you would have to programme it to allow any already playing tracks to spin in the background or you may end up with huge problems with tracks dropping out when you switch. maybe someone has already thought of this and wrote some script for it.

also would running 2 vdj windows not work? 2 ddecks on one skin and 2 on the other. not sure if that would work but in theory you would just have an overlay.

you can control a 4 deck skin with a 2 deck controller
 
He previously designed and created a skin by himself. That skin only has and shows 2 decks.

He would like to know if its possible to turn that skin into a 4 deck skin without writing the xml again from scratch. Like for example swap deck 1&3 on the left side cdj on the skin, if i understand it right
 
I'm not sure thats possible. You would need panels for the other 2 decks. Which then you would need to update the XML. I'm no skin master but have created a few in my time. I'm sure someone will come through and clarify this.

yes, that's right. so I need the order for turning deck A into deck C and deck B into deck D.
 
i completely understand what you guys are saying, but surely theres a way to use an overlay of some sort, so when you hit a button the skin changes or overlays on itself to show the second 2 decks.

it would take a decent bit of programming but theres no reason it cant work.

you could have it with 4 quadrants and a selector switch so which ever decks you select are the ones that appear rather than have deck A and B or deck C and D.

you could have a selector that makes deck A,B,C or D appear at either side depending which selection you use.

man i wish i could programme skins id certainly give it a good go . i reackon it would work too. in theory its just a matter of creating a skin that can be used on either side and is only half the size of the entire window or what ever size you wanted.

see this has me thinking now.
 
Its already possible, just use the default 6 deck skin...............

hmmm, so all the hard works been done. just a matter of transferring the code to the personal skin?

would that be about right huey?
 
Well probably not that easy, lol, you would have to add some graphics but I would say study the XML then give it a try. Also next try asking in the skin forum you might get a better response there.

lol, maybe not for us muggles. though for a hardened skin programmer im sure the task wouldnt be a major one. MAYBE! lol
