Hi there,
First. All the best wishes to u all.
I never had a problem with VDJ before, and all is working well in VDJ 7.0.2 with 2 deck's and the asio external mixer set up.
But if i configure Advanced Sound Setup and click apply or ok then vdj does not respond any more and i have to force it to quit and i have to reboot!?
I have installed VDJ a couple of times but the same happens over again, from 7.0 to 7.0.2.
I searched the forum but could not find a post that was similar to my problem.
Am i the only one with this problem or is there a solution i overlooked?
Win XP 32 bit.
Regards,
Klaas

Well you need to supply a bit more information....
What sound card (external mixer) are you using?
What exactly are you configuring in the advanced menu before clicking OK?
If you're trying to set something that your hardware is not capable of, that could be what's causing the issue - but unless you tell us what hardware you have, it's hard to tell.

Hi GroovinDj,
I use a Terratec Aureon 5.1 Sky and the mixer i use is a D&R Discom 4.
Well it does not matter what i configure,
if i set deck 1 to channel 1&2 and deck 2 to channel 3&4. (like the old external mixer config)
Or if i only use master to channel 1&2 the result is the same.
Asio or wdm does not matter. On board sound (just the same!).
If i use the external mixer config all is running like a charme, with 2 deck\'s but if i want 4 or 6 deck,s i will have to use advanced config.

Do you have "rewire" selected?
Posté Thu 06 Jan 11 @ 4:10 pm
Hallo Djcel,
No i don,t use rewire.
I don,t understand what is going on because with the external mixer config it is all working really well, so it can't be the hardware in my opinion!?
Also there is no crash report!

OK, because you first said "external ASIO mixer" I thought you had a USB mixer - but you don't.
You have a standard audio mixer with no USB audio, and a standard consumer sound card that has no ASIO compatibility.
If you want to use multiple decks with low latency, you'll need to get yourself a professional multichannel ASIO sound card.

Well the card has ASIO and performs with the lowest possible latency settings in VDJ, really well! I never have hick ups or problems with it and the sound is good.

Well it should work with the card i use now.
If i use the same config as in "external mixer" deck 1 = channel 1/2 deck 2 = channel 3/4 where it works and i use the same in Advanced config it should do the same... i think?
And why would i get a new card when this one is performing real well!? if it would sound bad or stutter in advanced config, then i would get a other one, but it does a good job from VDJ 5 til now.
I have optimized my win xp following some manuals on the forum, could it be i have turned of a service (only) needed bij Advanced config?

I did some research into the card you have, and there's no mention of ASIO in the manual, or in the product descriptions elsewhere on the web. Also, it's plain to see that it's a domestic consumer card, not a pro audio card.
There are no ASIO drivers for it on the Terratec web site, and the card itself is from 2002 according to web reviews.
Cheap consumer cards like this are not designed to provide multiple channels of high quality audio at low latency.
If you want something that will work as you require, you have to buy a better card!
(your card is a 5.1 card, which means it has a maximum of 6 channels - 5 plus 1. To run four decks, you need 8 audio channels. To run 6 decks, you need 12. Do you see the issue now?)

@groovindj
"from the terratec website:
-----------------------------------------------
Does the Aureon 7.1 Space / 5.1 Sky work together with Cubase VST from Steinberg?
Answer 10:
Yes. Especially by using the ASIO 2.0 driver very low latency time will be possible.
-----------------------------------------------
As i mentioned before "the card has ASIO and performs with the lowest possible latency settings in VDJ, really well!
edit:
Yes i know it is a 6 channel card, but according to the manual (VDJ) i can use multiple decks on 1 channel.
The problem is when i make a configuration (it will let me configure!) and want to confirm it by clickin Apply or ok VDJ does not respond any more.

OK well it's of course up to you if you wish to ignore my advice and carry on using an eight year old domestic consumer gaming card which is not designed for professional low latency multi channel usage.
I tried my best to help.
Goodbye and good luck.

@groovindj: Although I think you are right, I understand that Klaas is missing your point. If the card is working with the old audio-setup, you might expext it also does with Advanced setup, no matter how old that card is.
BTW: In the manual I found 1 clue that the card supports ASIO:

@Klaas: I do recognize your problem, because I've had similar issues with an older Maya-card. It seems (not confirmed) that Advanced Setup is conflicting with older ASIO-versions. The Aureon Sky-card is no longer supported by TerraTec, so the last decent ASIO-driver is probably several years old now. Because I don't work with 4 decks I just use the old setup (like you have done so far).
I think you've got 2 options: If you can spend the money, go get yourself a professional audio-card. Here at home and in the studio I use a M-Audio FireWire 410, which I can configure anyway I want. So no problems with Advanced Setup. But it was a €400, + investment...
The second option is to install ASIO4ALL. (just google it) Install and configure it for your card. It's free and a second choice-option but it might help you to configure your card in Advanced Setup.
I hope this helps.
Regards,
Martin.
BTW: There's also a Dutch forum. English is not a native language for me and I guess it's not yours too.... ;)

@Martin,
Thank you!!! This helps, ASIO4ALL works!
So it must be that Advanced setup is conflicting with the (older) ASIO driver from the Terratec Aureon it self.
See you on the Dutch forum. :) (schrijft makkelijker.)
@Groovindj
It is like Martin pointed out hard to get over the fact that If the card is working with the old audio-setup, you might expect it to do so with Advanced setup.
It looks like Advanced config is handling The ASIO drivers different than the old sound config.
Thank's for you're help.
