Hi folks. Had a little trouble with one of my hard drives the other day - slow read/write, general instability, the kind of thing that suggests that it's about to fail on me. Think it may have taken a little knock at the end of a gig the other week. (Note to self - wrap drives in thicker layer of bubble wrap when transporting!) Fortunately, I always keep a backup of my drives, so I will only have lost a handful of tracks since the last backup.
The backup software that I currently use was Seagate's own utility that came with the drive when I bought it. It does the job, but it's not really ideal, as there's not much control over where the backup files are saved to - they exist several subfolders deep within a folder called "backup", whereas I'd rather just have it as an exact mirror copy of the source drive. This way, the vdj database wouldn't have to be modifed on the copy drive to take account of changes in folder structure.
Can anybody recommend a cheap (preferably free!) backup program that will maintain an exact copy of my drive? Something that just keeps the drives in sync, ie only copying newly added files and changes, not re-copying the entire drive every time? Something that could be run every few days for a couple of minutes to keep the copy drive up to date?
Any thoughts would be appreciated!

why not just build a usb raid setup? that way whats written on one drive will automaticaly be written to the others. you can buy raid enclosures from the web.

Have used Easy File Sync for years... Well worth the $22 investment.
Can synchronise left to right, right to left, mirror, etc. Multiple back jobs and masks...

Handy Backup (http://www.handybackup.net) can do it well, it's reliable hard drive backup software. I have used several backup programs for years, and I recommend Handy Backup.
