Sujet: hard drive on standby

Ce topic est ancien et peut contenir des informations obselètes ou incorrectes.

bit of num nuts with tech stuff lol

got a gig in about 10 days and wanted to know if/how i could hook up my external drive and have it on standby
plugged into a spare port so i could just switch to the external if i run into probs with the internal drive

gotta a feelin the internals getting on a bit so i dont want it croaking on me during a set !

a step by step guide would be very much appreciated if its not too long
if i can return the favor in any way ill big up your dj / karaoke show, set, etc on my newly formed network ;)

many thanks in advance !

bump

this is really crucial for me people!

can someone help me out on this ;)

the tip i can give you is that you have to scan the external drive so you have a database stored on that one aswell. keep in mind that you always should use same usb port. when you have scanned it you can set the external as favorite in vdj

thanks Jens ;)

i take it I have to scan the external drive from within vdj right?

if i use the same usb port, do i have to do anything else like change drive letters ?

cos my external comes up as drive 'E'

* update *

vdj is seeing drive E and I've check, clean, fix
but its only showing 5 files ?

ive noticed that 'virtual dj local database 6 xml has been copied to the external
but I'm using pro ?

cant seem to find an xml file for pro in my documents/virtualdj folders ..

Version 6 xml is current.

From within VDJ you must open (or recurse) each folder on the new drive once to show VDJ where the files are.

thanks Rust!

will do.

In config, browser, show volumes i can see the drive and clicked on it.
my music folders come up ok, but again when i click on the drop-down menu and choose the external drive its only showing a fraction
of the drives music content..

ideally i wanna be able to copy the same set-up as my internal drives layout..i.e. playlists
ive tried making the playlists a favorite folder and it copied but again when i check the externals contents it only show up a handful of tunes?

I've also made up a number of new 'virtual' playlists, but can't seem to copy these to the new drive..? or make a favorite folder out of them, can this be done people..?

thanks in the meantime, really appreciate the input, every little helps ;)
