I'm going to ask for some total Noob Help :(
I have been creating music on the computer since 2001 Mostly Trance and EBM.
A friend of mine gave me his X-Session Pro and Virtual DJ 5 before he moved to Europe He said with my Good ear I have for music and timing I should learn how to DJ. Well to make a long story short that was the last I have heard from him Like he disappeared, well anyway .I don't know any DJ's in my area that would help me out with this. So that's when I decided to join this forum and seek some help.
Ok My laptop has one audio out, so I read that if I get a connector that had a female splitter then I can use my headphones.
So I installed the Virtual DJ 5 software, hooked up my session pro and BAM nothing works lol, Like I said your dealing with a real Noob here But I am determined to do this :)... So looked around on Utube and other sites to seek some help setting this up, I just want a basic set up "Even if I can do it with what I am using" But I am trying to set this thing up, like all the controls to work in the software and I'm really going a little nuts. I read the manual well the one I have didn't give me no info on setting the controls up. Is there a load feature that I can use, Like Load X-Session pro in Virtual DJ 5 so the crossfader,Cue,Volume Ect,Ect will work??? get were I'm getting at? Help Please...
So if anyone is bored and they want to take me under their wing and take some time to point me in the right direction I would appreciate it a lot for any help :)

first off your going to need a usb soundcard so you can map the ports correctly. a Y splitter wont work for your headphones.
do you have a line out? if not then buy somthing like this

just search for usb soundcard on your local ebay
then you configure vdj to use your laptop out for your speakers and your usb card for your headphones. or vice versa.

OR... if you cant get it to work properly then download VDJ Home for free and use that...

Ok Awesome I will order the USB sound card tonight, Ok intill then How do I set up the controls for the X-Session Pro so I can Get to know the Software intill I get the sound card.

download the latest driers and software from their website and install it. once its plugged in and installed vdj should detect it automatically.
you can change the functions of the buttons by going to vdj's
config > mappers

I got all the latest drivers for everything , But when I go to use it nothing works, I'm going to uninstall the software from my friend and download the software from here and see if that helps.
Steps
1-uninstall VDJ software
2-Install new software,,Will down load when I'm done leaving this post ;)
3-Turn on X-session
4-Hope it all works
5-If don't work going to have a drink ;)

Ok I'm still messing with all the settings. What a pain in the A@@ this is , But I got a sound card coming i got this one http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220626953545&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT so It should be here in a week or so.
Any other tips on setting up this program would be very helpful :)

hi mate, is your x session listed in the ,mappers section of the config??
if not you might want to try using an "external mixer" audio setup. you might find that it works that way. ive had a look around for some better info but only for a minute or so. i have to goto bed i got to go to work at 4am :( so i have to go offline. but try the external mixer audio setup first and ill see what i can find when i get back from work on sunday morning.
