Ok, I have had my hercules rmx controller for almost 2 years now with no problems. Well I recently was in the hospital for 4 weeks, during this time my fiance had my controller stored in the front closet, now it did endure some cold weather during this time. I get out the hospital, I updated to the new virtual dj, updated the latets drivers for the controller. I go do my first gig since being back and the sound cuts out on me in the middle of my set. Virtual dj still runs, but i get no sound in my headphones nor in the club. I restart everything, it starts working fine, HOWEVER i get distortion if when I plug ANY cable in my controller in the LEFT output Channel. I tried the Qurter inch outputs and the RCA, and whenever I plug a cable in any of the left channels it takes the BASS out the music. ANd after about 20 minutes ALL The sound Cuts out AGAIN!!!!! WHAT is wrong?? IS my RMX just busted and I need a new one?????? Or is it something I can fix, I am running The latest Virtual DJ software On my Macbook OS X 10.6.6 2Ghz Intel Core 2 DUo, 4GB 667 Mhz DDR2. Just in case that helps. PLEASE let me know if you have any clue whats going on.

I would first try to isolate the problem:
- Make a physical inspections of the various connectors and cable and see if there is any abnormalities (corrosion, play in the connection, damages, etc).
- If you use the Rmx as a soundcard for iTunes, and let it play for awhile, do you get the same sort of problems ?
- If you use VDJ with the computer onboard soundcard, do you notice similar issues ?

I tested VDJ without the mixer and it works fine. I checked the RMX but didn't see any corrosion. I dont know how to use it as a soundcard to run itunes

Go to System Preferences > Sound, and for Outputs, select the Rmx.
OS X will then use the Rmx as the default soundcard for every applications, including iTunes.

OK tried it with Itunes and hooked it up to RMX mixer and hooked up to my system and had no issues with the sound stopping, however when I pulled the cable out hte right port the sound stopped until i put it back in, the left channel did nothing when I pulled the cable out. But this could be because its running off itunes. However i let it run for a good hour and a half and the music never stopped.
