hi everyone
im sure you are all sick of posts like this, but ill give it a shot anyway.
i wanna start mixing with a console for fun, and maybe do the odd house party
im looking for something in the very low budget range.
theres a few ones that stand out:
Numark Mixtrack
Hercules MK4
Behringer BCD3000 (although it doesnt get great reviews)
and any others that you guys could recommend.....

How much do you have to spend? No need in talking about stuff you can't afford.

ive got almost 300 US

I don't do Behringer, so I would stick with Numark or Hercules. Go to your nearest dealer, and play with them, and pick the one that feels good to you. What I like means nothing.

Good advice from AMAHM. The BCD2000 and 3000 don't have the best reports. They work but can be very tempramental to set up and seem to be very sensitive to hardware matching. Not one for beginners.

One direction you could look at is to try and find a good second hand controller and spend the balance of your cash on VDJ. Once you have done this it means that you can upgrade the controller as and when funds allow and your software will be able to run with it strait away. The upgrades to the software are free and keep pace with new hardware as it comes out so you won't be left behind.

good luck

Daz

yeah i had kind of crossed the behringer off the list from the start.
cool, ill look out for some second hand ones.
i would like to try before i buy though
thanks for the help

No need for second hand stuff, I think a Mixtrack pro is about 300 bucks. Built in soundcard and VDJ LE , you'd be all set.

I returned my BCD3000 after 4 days of use.

Hope that helps.

yeah. i can get a mixtrack pro for around 300, and the mk4 for around 330.
ill try them both out, although its seems the mixtrack is a better unit

Mixtrack pro over the MK4, but think about the RMX as well. It fits your budget and I find it to be similar to the Mixtrack pro. I have the RMX and I carry that with my laptop in a single laptop bag whenever I do my gigs now! I'm not saying you have to do this, but want you the understand how great it is to have something so small, yet powerful.

MK4 for 330$!!!!!!!!!!!!! I got mine a few months ago for 179$.

I have the MK4 and i am pretty happy with it. except if you want to scratch a lot, Mixtrack Pro is better.

+1 mixtrack pro

rmx is a little more than the mixtrack pro, but it could be worth it.
anyone used the hercules steel?
looks similar to the rmx, but its cheaper

The steel doesn't have a soundcard built in it, so you'd wind up spending more for that as well. You can check this site http://www.jr.com/hercules/pe/HER_DJCONRMX/ going for $299 or check elsewhere on line for the price is dropping due to the arrival of the 4-mx, which is going for about $450 now in many places.

i would hop on that, but im out in australia, and most places wont ship out here

just a question about the rmx
am i able to play one song through speakers and hear the other side through the headphones? what do i need to do that?

ive really got no idea about the technical side of things

@ highfly...all you need to do with an RMX is load the drivers that come on a CD with the unit, install the LE version, again on the supplied CD, plug in the RMX into the computer, plug in some powered speakers (or amp feeds) into the audio outputs of the RMX, plug your headphones into the RMX, start up VDJ, configure the sound options to the RMX and viola...your away.

Hope that helps.

thanks heaps!
cant wait to get it. i tried a few out today, including the mixtrack pro and the rmx, and the rmx easily feels the best
i think ill upgrade vdj once i get used to the controller.
thanks again for your help!
