I know this is a common problem as I have googled it and found many answers to it, however, none have worked for me. Apologies then:
I have a hercules dj console mk2 which I wish to us on my laptop the specs of which run thus:
Windows 7 64bit
4Gb ram
500gb rom
intel i5 cpu 2.4ghz
Don't know the make of the sound card
I have downloaded and installed the latest virtual dj software (named "Virtual DJ (console edition) on my desktop) and I have gone to hercules website and installed the latest driver for my device which specifically says it is compatible with what I am using. Whenever I try to open virtual dj it tells me that it will now check the internet for updates and after a second reports that "The controller has not been detected, please plug the controller in and start virtual dj again".
I am administrator on my computer and have attempted running both virtual dj and the driver installation as admin like I am told to on the hercules website. I also have virtual dg home on my computer if that makes any difference.
I have attempted running device manager and under the sound and game controllers i have "IDT High Definition Audio CODEC". Under Universal Serial Bus Controllers I have listed 2 instances of USB Composite device and one unknown device next to which there is a small exclamation mark. I have tried to update this driver and it tells me that it is up to date.
I am guessing that the driver has not installed properly and I have tried reinstalling it several times to no avail. Thanks for any help in advance.

Do you have the latest firmware and drivers for the DJ console installed?
