Hello Everyone i had a Xone 3d for a while and it seems pretty useless to me since i cant find proper mapping for it that works smoothly
with Vdj and what i really don't understand is Why is Xone 4d supported fully even featured in the hardware Buy section
and not the 3d ... so if anyone had has a map file that works nicely other than the one in the controller download section .. would be so kind to share it unless VDj support decides to provide an official working map or an update to support the equipment natively since A&h is getting supported in the first place !!!
Peace ....

What was wrong exactly with the mappings you used before? You can always map the device yourself, if you don't find a pre-made mapping that works to your liking.

Neither the Xone:4D nor the Xone:3D have built in native support with VDJ.
There are two user created maps available though, one for the 4D and one for the 3D.

You can of course always map it yourself.

Try this mapping for the jogwheels and level faders. Works on Xone:1D which is essentially the controller part of Xone:3D.
Change the target deck if necessary.
param_greater 50% ? deck default jogwheel -0.1 : deck default jogwheel +0.1
deck default volume_slider
Change the target deck if necessary.

I remember encountering this problem when I had my Xone 3D, the mapper in the download section sucked when it came to the jog wheels everything else worked great for me though. I ended up mapping it myself, I just couldn't figure out how to get the jog wheels to respond better. I wasn't a big fan of A&H jogs to begin with so I ended up selling the mixer, you get great sound quality out of the thing and tons of MIDI controls just the jogs killed it for me.
The mixed is not natively suppoerted by VDJ so you have to expect a little user input to get the thing to work properly on VDJ.

well honestly it has great sound quality and i am surprised that VDj doesnt support it as much i am seriously thinking of selling it
as its not cutting for me and not even enough resources to get working properly on other software ... i mean damn ..
fine piece of equipment and not enough support from their own website either

go into the config menu, select the mapplng tab, make sure you have the xone selected in the drop down tab, then choose learn midi key, move the jog you wish to map, then paste aural candy's code there, you will then be able to use the jogs
param_greater 50% ? deck # jogwheel -0.05 : deck # jogwheel +0.05
For all the absolute knobs and sliders just use
deck # volume slider
but for the the five knobs with the push buttons, these are endless encoders so you will need to use
param_greater 50% ? deck # effect slider 1 - 1 : deck # effect slider 1 + 1
**note you need to change the '#' to the applicable number**
The easiest way to start imo is to just use the "action learn" function of the mapper and use the above codes depending on what type of knob or slider it is, then when you feel more comfortable in mapping explore the possibilities by typing in what you want, and vdj will usually show what is available with an example of how to use the script.

You know I think its just that there wasn't much demand for it, it's not in the budget for many people. Less users, less deman but your right, the machine is quality.

Well...Pioneer/Denon gear is not cheap either, but there's good support for tem. The complete absence of native support for Allen & Heath products is rather odd.

ok i tried the action earn got the jog wheel 2
and i put the code this way param_greater 50% ? deck 2 jogwheel -0.05 : deck 2 jogwheel +0.05
now when i move it just goes forward

weird, I have a xone 1d and that's how I map it... anyway try
param_greater 0% ? deck 2 jogwheel -0.05 : deck 2 jogwheel +0.05
You must have different knobs than mine, if that doesn't work you will need to either change or make a difinition file for the controller

I'm pretty sure that the mixer part of the xone 3d is analog, so the crossfader volume knobs, effects etc... are not midi and therefor you cant use them to control software, analog is way better than digital for this type of control anyway.

ic i was affrraid u would say that lol .. ok .. now things got a bit jittery
just to make sure ... what settings should i use in the xone configuration tool
i already have it set
sound card mode -------1 stereo in /3 stereo out
sound card input ch1-2 ---- mix out
3d digital output ----- mix out
midi chan 16
midi mapping ----- map2
plz let me know if this is correct or not

cant help you with the soundcard I am afraid, I use an audio 8, as for the midi map on my xone 1d, I remember playing with the midi, and changing it to the ableton setting so the 4 encoders up the top worked as cc encoders not notes like in the traktor setting, but again unfortunately I cant remember the exact settings I used, there is a setup manual on the A&H website though.
On another note I think the drivers for the 1d are shit, If I ever pull the connecting usb out I get a fatal error blue screen or even if I try to shut down my laptop without first disconnecting the device it blue screens then I have to reinstall the driver... Do you have the same problem with the 3d, I have asked the A&H support about this but they are useless.

ok np i got that figured out now
ok i use the code as follows param_greater 50% ? deck 1 effect slider 1 - 1 : deck 1 effect slider 1 + 1
and it gives syntax error

my bad...
param_greater 50% ? deck 1 effect slider 1 -1 : deck 1 effect slider 1 +1
there was a space between -1/+1, should work now.
also take note, if your using one of the 8 absolute knobs you only need to use
deck 1 effect slider
it sends its absolute position to vdj when you turn it so the rest of the script is not needed
